Bovey Tracey is easy to walk around.
Bovey Tracey is easy to walk around. A 'must see' is the beautiful park area where there is an abundance of huge trees, a great children's area, and easy walking. Continue through the park and you'll come to the Forest where you can enjoy perfect walks, with a welcoming cafe part way! Another 'must visit' is to a building called 'Jollys'. This is en route to the Heritage Centre (another place worthy of a visit). The gentleman who owns Jollys, is a motorcycle collector. He has a large collection of bikes, including several custom built ones, found on the ground floor. It is definitely worth spending time studying them as the art work is quite outstanding. Carry on upstairs and you'll be astounded at the full sized models of anything and everything! Bovey Tracy has something for everyone! There are some beautiful walks.
There are some beautiful walks. Across the road (B3387) from the National Park Visitors Centre, Haytor, is the start of a fantastic walk across the moors. It encompasses Haytor Rocks, a clapper bridge across a stream, several historic points of interest, as well as returning through acres of blue bells (spectacular in May). Lovely gardens, dog friendly, left a treat in a bowl for our pooch. Kitchen was more an adequate, ideal for 2 people, large shower, close to Hytor walks and not far from a local store/petrol station if you wanted supplies. The location was perfect with easy access to the moors and Tors.There was plenty of storage space to keep clothes etc. The kitchen was superb and well appointed with plenty of pans for cooking and crockery. The bedrooms were a bit dark because of foliage growing across the windows.Would have liked a shelf to keep toiletries in the bathroom.Perhaps a bbq would have been good to have in the garden.Guest review bySwatton - 8.0

A quiet village off the beaten track but only a short distance from the trunk road (A38) through South Devon. We dined in the Hotel. Superb walking on Dartmoor : the big Hay Tor granite outcrop is only 40 minutes on foot uphill from our quarters in the Rock Inn, or ten minutes drive plus 30 minutes walk if you are starting from the village.Guest review byAlexUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Small village with few shops. The Indian restaurant was very good. Accessible to lovely countryside walks from the village. National Trust Parke on the edge of the village follows the river with plenty of walks. All very peaceful and secure so children can go off on their own to explore and find the chickens and play area. Thoughtfully equipped. Recommend the well marked circular ‘Ant Trail’ through nature reserves at the end of the lane (also route to the pub and the children’s playground at Chudleigh Knighton).
