The staff at the restaurant/bar is extremely friendly and hardworking. While this could be attributed to the fact that they are students from the University and therefore educated and professional, still this is a bright highlight of this hotel. Not all visitors are equally polite as I noticed, but I also noticed that the staff is always very professional, kind and friendly. I have travelled the world, all continents except Africa, but never at any place have I met so friendly staff at the bar/restaurant. My biggest compliments.

The whole staff at The Hawes Inn were exceptional! Everyone from Michelle, Kate, Bea, etc were so attentive, amazing and friendly! The food is so delicious, especially the eggs benedict for breakfast! I would recommend this inn to anyone that is traveling to the Edinburgh/South Queensferry area. It is very easy to catch the train to Edinburgh, only a 15 minute train ride. Best place to stay.

    The apartment is very clean, well decorated, and interesting...

    The apartment is very clean, well decorated, and interesting, with a reading nook in the second bedroom and a "hidden" foosball room. The bed in the second bedroom was a futon, so not very comfortable. Poor quality of towels. The host sent the wrong code for the lockbox at first and did not respond to my question about parking. The neighborhood isn't very good and the hallway and stairways up to the apartment were dark and uneven. We ordered excellent pizza from the curry place across the street. The apartment was fine for the purpose of getting to the airport in the morning, but I wouldn't return.
