I cannot recommend The Portland enough. The staff were very friendly & quick to meet anything asked of them. The room was stunning & facilities were so good. The food was delicious with a menu that would suit a varied guest list. It is a very short distance to shops, restaurants & cafes. Really enjoyed the beer garden & playing darts in a relaxed atmosphere. It was great value for money. Will definitely stay there again when visiting Ashington.

    Loved the clean apartment, I really liked how near it was to the beach and was there everyday, a lovely walk along the beach and back along the cliff tops. If you are looking for peace and quiet, that is exactly what you will get. No supermarkets, no noise. However you are only a 10 minute drive from nearest supermarket and 20 minute drive from other places of interest should you want them
