FAQs about hotels in Cardiff

The Pride of Wales

Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.

Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.

From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Centre, shopping in Cardiff is a delight. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants in which to rest awhile. Those by Cardiff Bay offer particularly pleasant views.

Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Centre. Another year 2000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and football matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.

Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city centre.

The castle, national museum and city museum are excellent cultural venues. The Millennium Centre is an outstanding building on Cardiff Bay far better than the Senedd building. All venues are in walking distance of the centre. The bus service is excellent for visiting LLandaff Cathedral and St Fagan's outdoor museum: buy a day ticket and save money.

    An interesting City.

An interesting City. Initial impressions were negative on the first day but improved as we learned how to find our way around. Many helpful people around to guide us. The open top bus tour was good as was a boat trip around the bay. The Castle was a good visit. We found three brilliant restaurants for dinner.

I moved my daughter to uni last week. Cardiff was charming and friendly. The people were my favorite thing about my visit. I had great food, amazing walks, interesting sites to see. There was a lot to do to get her settled and I am already looking forward to my next visit. Cardiff is the perfect size city to explore on foot and it had everything that i needed for time away from home!

The people were so nice and friendly!

The people were so nice and friendly! Always ready to say hi and have a short conversation with you! Everywhere was pretty much accessible via walking which I loved, and uber rides weren't too expensive at all. Attractions like Cardiff castle, and Cardiff Bay were highlights I would recommend to all visitors.

The city was busy but full of people of all ages and was a happy friendly place. St Mary street was full of bars, restaurants as were some linked streets. Queen street and the related shopping centres will satisfy most shoppers. Museums, castles, entertainment, and the extensive bus and train services providing cheap access to a large area make Cardiff a good centre. The market is a good place to visit.

Location was good in that it was about20 min walk to Cardiff bay and 25 min to city centre. However, the area house is in is quite run down with many bags of waste piled outside houses. Rooms large and kitchen and dining area feel smart and practical.
