Chard seems a bit scruffy in places although the high street was nice. Parking is a problem if you don't have coins, the parking app is very disjointed. That isn't Chard's fault. Chard has rather a lot of empty shops, but those which remain are very good. E.g., the local bakery and butchers are very traditional and a high standard. I came to visit family so I wasn't a tourist as such.
I came to visit family so I wasn't a tourist as such. However I do like Chard, it's got a nice community feel. The staff in shops are friendly and helpful. I love having a rummage in the charity shops and Home Bargains. We had a family lunch at The Bath House which was delicious and the people there are great too.Guest review byElizabeth - 8.0

I remember Chard from my youth (1960's) and it had obviously changed in some ways but it is an interesting town with a good selection of shops and eating /drinking places. A small town, not many places to eat out...we ate where we stayed at The Bath House Hotel and restaurant - a Malaysian fusion restaurant, rather pricey but a nice meal. A good base to travel on from or go to places to visit - we had a day in Sidmouth from Chard , so an easy place to travel from!!Guest review byRebecca

Location is central to Chard and easy to get from to other places if you have your own transport. Room was exceptionally clean. James and Katherine were friendly. Stayed in room 6 at top of the house and it was a good room and plenty of space even for 3 adults. We received an email after booking to warn us that the hotel would be noisy (Friday/Saturday night), so we were prepared.
