I stayed at the hotel for one night while travelling to Coventry with my mother, and we had a wonderful experience. Our room was spacious, spotless, and offered a lovely view. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, making for a restful night. We also had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, Cogs Bar & Kitchen, and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the atmosphere warm and inviting, and the staff were incredibly accommodating. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Coventry.

We were just looking for a place to sleep on our way south from visiting historic castles and such, and were not expecting to sleep in such an ancient and beautiful building, but then this abbey popped up on our radar that night, and captured our imaginations instantly. And we were not disappointed. Amazing end to a fantastic day. Would have been cool in a building like this if the hotel offered an option for experiencing something scary in the middle of the night, as if the house was haunted or something like that, if specifically requested when booking. Perhaps the TV could be set to turn on suddenly and wake us up, and when we react by turning it off, it triggers some further spookiness, like a figure flying past our window or walking the garden beneath the window. Perhaps drawing us out of our rooms to sneak down the stairs chasing some mystery. But nah, would probably not make for a restful night haha. And might be hard to pull off without disturbing other guests, anyway.

FAQs about hotels in Coventry

The Legacy of Legends

South-east of Birmingham, Coventry is best known for the shell of its old cathedral, a poignant reminder of the damage sustained during World War II. Part of its northern wall joins the new Modernist cathedral, designed by Sir Basil Spence.

In the neighbouring gardens are remains of an 11th-century Benedictine monastery set up by Lord Leofric. His wife - Lady Godiva - became Coventry’s greatest legend by riding naked on horseback in protest at her husband’s high taxes.

St Mary’s Guildhall is built on part of the old castle, and Baginton on the city’s outskirts houses the reconstructed Roman Lunt Fort. Also here is Coventry Airport, by the Midland Air Museum, whose exhibits include a Vulcan.

The Coventry Transport Museum houses examples of vehicles manufactured in the city over the years. Also historic are the canals north of the city centre, lined by Grade II-listed buildings. Other attractions include the Warwick Arts Centre – the UK’s 2nd largest – and the Ricoh Arena, home of Coventry City FC. The Sky Dome Arena is an ice hockey and music venue, while the best shopping is found in Arena Park Centre.

The city has 2 universities, so naturally features many bars and restaurants. There are also several Coventry hotels, guest houses and country houses on Booking.com, most with parking and some with pools.

Lovely city with the cathedral, art gallery and transport museum to visit. They continue to make improvements to the city centre, and walking around there is really pleasant with the water features and plantation. Plenty of choices to eat and drink.

I spent three days in Coventry, and I was really impressed by the city and its people. Very friendly and as a pedestrian, the politest motorists I've encountered in a long time! The remains of the medieval city, the museum and cathedral, all worth a visit. I was really disappointed that the Priory Visitor Centre is closed. The Benedictine Priory is associated with Lady Godiva, so I can't understand why the council would let the excavation site and the gardens become so neglected. It was full of beer bottles and rats. I know attempts have been made to fund raise for the site so hopefully this will be resolved. My favourite place was St Mary's Guildhall. Such a fascinating step back in time. The cafe in the vaults- Tales of Tea- is superb. I had a cream tea which while not the cheapest was the most delicious thing ever! It seemed easy to get around on foot, although I did see lots of buses. The walk from the train station was short, and again, easy to find your way with google maps. I can also recommend a look round the beautiful Holy Trinity Church, just across the road from the cathedral. The 15th century Doom painting is a rare find, concealed beneath centuries of whitewash and now reinstated to it's very scary best!

5 stars across the board from checking in to checking out. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful if they tried. For us ideally located ( parked car up on arrival, used the bus stop just outside ( £2 single up to a maximum of £4.80 for a all day ticket each) which along with cheap taxis ( 1am Saturday morning from city centre back to hotel was £11) meant it was the cheaper/easier option.

The location was perfect for exploring the Cathedral and Art gallery and city centre. The interior of the hotel was much more upmarket than the exterior suggested. The staff were helpful and friendly. They looked after our suitcase before and after checking in/out while we explored Coventry which was nice.
