The hosts were super friendly and very attentive. Excellent service, they thought of everything. Breakfast was cooked to order and so good! The room was beautiful and the bed very comfortable. Highly recommend for anyone who wants the personal touch and is looking for a unique location.

    Ideally suited for an overnight stop and a trip into Pontefract. We ate in the pub although the food we chose wasn't to our liking, other dishes we saw come out looked great. The staff were really friendly.

    Darlington is a small village but a good location and easy...

    Darlington is a small village but a good location and easy to get too. Very pretty and there are loads of places to visit nearby if you like the outdoors, history, and walking. We have visited Anglers Nature Reserve, Pugneys Country Park. We did want to visit Nostell Priory which is National Trust but high winds put an end to that. We visited Sandal Castle, the site of the Battle of Wakefield, and there is a shopping outlet called Escape with restaurants not far, about 20mins by car. Would recommend taking a packed lunch when visiting the parks to give more time to walk and discover. People very friendly. Stunning views.

    An excellent location for travellers on the A1 and easy to find. Very helpful staff. The restaurant was very popular with families, but our menu choices was not as well cooked as I would have liked and the breakfast was poorly cooked, but this is a personal view. The whole place looked tired and Greene King need to take more care of its inns, this is the second time we have stayed in one and the hot water boiler has failed and there has been no hot water.

    The breakfast was quite small for a 3 star Hotel compared with one in Austria :-( Little choice for breakfast. Only two species of bread. No Vegetable for breakfast. No Earl Grey tea Only 3 spezies of tea

    Darrington is a small well to do village near Pontefract.

    Darrington is a small well to do village near Pontefract. Bus service is minimal. Lots of big houses and well tended lawns. There are two pubs and a small general store. Church and church hall are set back from the road (which is busy) We were having a post breakfast stroll guessing the property prices and a local lady invited us to a coffee morning, which was nice.

    The hotel was right next to the A1M but had little if any...

    The hotel was right next to the A1M but had little if any noise from it. It was ideal to break up the journey further north for a funeral & then the return journey. Bed was very comfortable and large, staff were very welcoming and friendly, having a pub attached gave a great choice for evening meals and breakfast. The only criticism was the occasional uneven floor in the room

    I didn’t have breakfast in the pub. The location good near local shopping outlets and places to visit and eat. Nice en-suite room. Everything we needed, towels, shampoo/body wash, hand wash. Tea and coffee. Free Wi-Fi. Clean. Pub quiz in pub attached to the hotel, good fun. Would book again, this was my 2nd visit. Not sure of bus transport as had a car, plenty of parking. 11am check out.
