Plenty of parking. Good selection of shops. Fair amount of attractions e.g. Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum, within 45 minutes drive away. Local bus service seemed available for some of them. Attractive countryside.

A great inn to stay, eat, drink. Lovely little stream running with a cute bridge. Lovely village, plenty of parking at venue. Unfortunately we were only there for one night to break up a long journey, however we would have liked to have stayed and explored a little especially after listening to Tony’s list of things to see and do ☺️

Dorchester is a quaint town that is always a pleasure to visit. It has a brilliant market and there are plenty of shops to visit. It it well served with different museums and the Tutankhamun and Terracotta Army ones are a definite visit for me. There are also plenty of cafes to have some amazing food.

Dorchester is far too quiet, we tried to get a drink in a hotel bar at 10pm and they had shut. All of the other pubs were shut too. Where we parked our car, several drunk men were staggering around, and this was at 2:30pm.

I have been a member of the Museum for 40 years so loved seeing all the new building and clarity of the modern lay-out. My passion for the iconic water-meadows of the wonderful River Frome gave me hours of searching out the old archaeological sites and remnants of the historic sluices. The restaurants are plentiful and all different which makes eating out an event. The X Jurassic coast buses are a wonderful way to see the rest of Dorset and the famous Hardy country. I defy anyone to be at a loss when visiting that ancient literary and agriculturally unique part of Dorset.

Everything was top notch. We booked for 3 adults and 1 kid and we were given 2 bedroom apartment like accommodation which was beautifully decorated. Room size was bigger than average. I never expected this to be this good. Breakfast was included and was one of the best any hotel can offer. We also had dinner and food was scrumptious. Prices we paid was nominal compared to the quality given. Highly recommended . Will visit again for sure. My daughter did not want to leave the property and I promised to visit again.

Ideal location if you want to be in the centre of Dorchester. Excellent choice of pubs, restaurants etc. Busy, buzzy small county town with good choice of shops including a Waitrose, local museums, all within walking distance. 17th C hotel has historic connections, with nicely decorated rooms, pretty rear garden with a conservatory to sit and eat breakfast. Breakfasts are freshly cooked and you are looked after in a friendly and hospitable fashion by the owners and staff.
