Douglas is a very long Promenade and I chose to stay the furthest end of the Pier to the town centre but having a bus stop outside to take you to the other end was ideal at £1.20 a trip . There are horse trams outside too to take you into Town. The Gaiety Theatre is a must. A walk through the sunken gardens at the Sea Terminal end is not to be missed and the highlight is Summerhill Glen at night with a lovely walk through ..free of charge..and the illuminations through the Glen are Magical.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Douglas was very nice, very clean, no litter, very little chewing gum on pavements. The people obviously take great pride in their island and they are very friendly and helpful. The Promenade is a beautiful place to walk.
The Promenade is a beautiful place to walk. We also used the horse drawn tram from one end to the other and on a very wet day, took a taxi to the Isle of Man Museum - a real MUST! A very busy city with plenty of traffic going through which...
A very busy city with plenty of traffic going through which is expected what with the ferryport. The staff at the Information Centre are not only helpful but know their 'stuff'. Both the steam and electric trains were wonderful experiences. If staying more than a few days, buy a travel card; worth the money. Unfortunately the town is quite run down. The gardens are a joy to walk through and very peaceful should you wish to rest. Buses are extremely comfortable; excellent timetables and all stops rare dispalyed in front pf the bus; no chance of getting off the wrong staff. Found local people very friendly. The bus stop is just a 2 minutes' walk, just like the convenience store. The apartment we stayed at was clean, quite spacious, had a nice view of the hills and the sea and was well equipped - a cooker, dishwasher, oven, microwave, fridge, kitchen utensils. The hotel treated us really well. Nothing was a bother to them. All staff always say hello. Breakfast was lovely we never had lunch or dinner. Little extras ordered drinks at night and got a bowl of crisps. Little touch goes song way.
