FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

So much to do and see, surrounded by history and bustling with activity. We loved the restaurants and bars on Rose Street, especially Meze Meze (Mediteranean food, extra friendly staff). We stayed in Haymarket at Grosvenor Gardens, which was very close to the tram directly to and from the airport.) Edinburgh has great public transit all around, use it to get outside of the main tourist areas to take in the rest of this beautiful Scottish city.

Edinburgh is a beautiful city with marvelous buildings, houses, Parks etc. It has been extremely well maintained. They cherish the past, and go to long lengths to keep it original and in good condition. I expect the attractions are worth a look, but if you go, you MUST book before hand. If you go, you must also prepare yourself for Tourist, Tourists and more Tourists, they (We) were everywhere, hundreds of thousands of us, everywhere. I walked up hill to see the castle, and when I arrived puffed out, all I could see was People, People and more People. And a sign which read 'SOLD OUT TODAY' This was about Lunch Time. Mind you, there was plenty else to see, and well worth the walk uphill to the castle, so I was a little disappointed, but what else I saw was great. Apart from the Crowds (which is great for the economy and the business owners), the only thing that annoyed me, but it is understandable when you find out why, Is that there are beautiful very old parks which look lovely-from the street-. Only residents can use some of them (there are Locked Gates at certain points with Keys Locks which the residents have keys of course) and to find out why, you'll have to go to Edinburgh to find out (or Google it if you want to cheat).

Writing a book to describe the city of Edinburgh would be more fitting and more appropriate than to write just a short review. The historical centre city of Edinburgh pours its very own charm and even if you are not so much into history it is a delightful experience. Rarely have I seen a city with such a strong but at the same time gentle spirit. The people have been incredibly polite, kind and amicable. Edinburgh has so much to offer and is a real beauty spot. Always worth a visit.

Loved Edinburgh, historic buildings, the Royal Mile, Princes Street, quite touristy, but I loved it. Some absolutely beautiful buildings ad architecture would have loved to have stayed longer and saw more, but we were travelling around Scotland and had limited time. I will definitely visit again in the future.

So much to do and see.

So much to do and see. Small city but full of nooks and crannies and olde world charm. I was born in Edinburgh so always enjoy going back. Transportation is excellent. Trains to Glasgow, the highlands and London. Local buses to North Berwick and St. Andrews. and Coach buses to Glasgow and the highlands. Free museums, and galleries, and churches. Lots of quaint pubs. The high street (Princes Street) is looking a little tired and neglected. With the view of the castle it should be prime real estate. Too many loud, annnoying tourist cheap shops. What happened to Jenners and Marks and Spencers???

Although the hotel is located at a distance from Edinburgh city centre, it is well-connected by efficient tram and bus services. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. The room was clean, bright, and well-maintained, and the availability of free on-site parking was a significant advantage.

Lovely clean hotel in a great location. Breakfast was made to order and delicious. Staff are very polite and helpful. The hotel is surrounded by the best seafood restaurants in Edinburgh. Leith is a great base, lots of lovely restaurants and within easy access to the city centre. Also offers a great bus service.
