Beautiful countryside, Eyam is full of history being The Plague Village in the 1600’s. Lovely Derbyshire stone cottages. Walkers paradise! The Miners Arms on Water St is a great pub for food and drink. Two café/tea rooms with lovely cakes etc. There is a Youth Hostel as well.

Eyam has a long and well documented history which it displays throughout the village, telling the story of the village self-isolating during the plague in the 17th century. It's a good tale even if some of it is now considered to be embellished for the tourists but worth visiting and exploring nonetheless. If you stay in the village you'll find it much less busy in the evening when the day trippers have departed. It's largely picturesque and mostly unspoilt, has a decent pub, the Miners Arms, good local walks, and a bus service to Bakewell and Sheffield. There's a useful small general store and a fruit and veg shop that has intermittent opening times so I don't know what it's like. Eyam is a good base for exploring the Peak District.

I had an enjoyable short break here for which this property is very well suited with its location in the village of Eyam. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped. The host, Ricky was friendly and able to advise on local facilities. There are good walks right from the door, bus services to Bakewell and Sheffield stop nearby, and there are a couple of good pubs within walking distance in Eyam itself and in Foolow. The cottage has a good internet connection which is useful since mobile network signal is patchy.

Very good location in quaint Eyam. Central to get around to most locations in the Peak District for walks and hikes. Well equipped kitchen and the space has been carefully thought about. Very good internet connection. Owners were welcoming and available to assist should we have needed anything. Ample parking available in the village although there is also a designated car parking space at the cottage.
