Tris provided a wonderful array of self-serve breakfast foods including fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt coffee, tea, granola, etc. The room was cozy and clean. The shower was wonderful, and there were many things provided that a traveler might not have on hand. We had a great time reading through his guest book and even left our own little doodle! Tris was there to help with anything that might come up. By far, the best experience of our trip, and we'd happily stay again given the opportunity.

A very quiet and surprisingly atmospheric town. I have only the most pleasant impressions. it's a pity that I was only in the house for one night (the second night I also stayed in the town, but it was busy, but they helped me find another accommodation and even drove me to it in the morning). A very creative idea with book-style room design in the most bookish of the small towns I've been to. in general, I had long dreamed of visiting it after reading the famous diary about the life of the bookstore owner. Breakfast is also better than you can imagine. in fact, everything you need for a good start to the day.

We stayed here 19 years ago, and decided to return. Everything was exactly the same as previous. The accommodation is extremely well kept and maintained to a high standard. It's slightly smaller than "The Pend" next door but the kitchen in The Precinct House" is stunning with a large Electric Aga which I've loved cooking on. Shower room/Toilet is very neat and tidy. And upstairs both bedrooms are beautifully decorated. We will go back a little bit sooner next time.

Had an amazing break away for 4 nights. Location was perfect so peaceful and tranquil just what we were needing at the moment . Wood fired hot tub for use aswell with logs and kindling available aswell. Hot tub was amazing and hosts also emptied and refilled for us with fresh water when we were away out . Hosts were lovely friendly and very helpful. First time we ever done glamping as such and we really enjoyed it . Our frenchie Fury also had a great time there aswell making friends with sheep and donkey . Animals around to see aswell as on farm little piglets born just a week ago some extras we weren’t expecting also there’s a games room diwn the road 2 mins we never knew about this until we read comments on guest book so glad we went down pool table darts board air hockey and football to play board games . We loved our stay here and will definitely be back sometime.great prices aswell well worth the money and is also private aswell with enclosed fence and gates . Thanks for our amazing stay xx

Pleasant village with picturesque harbour and waterfront.

Pleasant village with picturesque harbour and waterfront. Interesting history as the development site for the D-Day Mulberry Harbours. Good walks along the coast. Facilities are a bit limited as far as I can tell there is The Harbour Inn, a cafe, a touring caravan site, public WC, and on the outskirts a garage with a small shop and only a diesel pump. Be prepared.

If you like walking Garlieston is a great base.

If you like walking Garlieston is a great base. Galloway House gardens are spectacular in Spring when the rhododendrons and azaeleas are in flower. The coastal walk to Cruggleton Castle is lovely. It's also a short drive to the Isle of Whithorn, St Ninian's Cave and to Wigtown which are interesting historic sites.

It takes a while to get there, but it's worth the effort. It's a great little hideaway. The cafe, The Hive and pub, The Harbour Inn, are both welcoming and reasonably priced. There's plenty to visit in at least three directions within a thirty minute drive. Sunrise and sunset are both quite special
