FAQs about hotels in Glasgow

Fun-Loving and Forward Thinking

Scotland’s largest city, Glasgow combines Victorian architecture and a vibrant arts scene. A former European City of Culture, it is home to many national organisations including the Scottish Ballet and the National Theatre of Scotland. The museums are also world class. Not to be missed are the futuristic-looking Glasgow Science Centre and the eclectic exhibits at the Kelvingrove.

Lined with Georgian buildings, George Square is the city’s focal point and the spot for Glasgow Hogmanay celebrations. Fanning out from here are streets housing venues for the city’s main love: music. From classical concerts to up-and-coming bands, every taste is catered for.

As host of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Glasgow is also a city of sport. Scotland’s 2 most iconic football clubs - Celtic and Rangers - are based here, as is the national football stadium Hampden Park. The Scottish Football Museum is also an excellent walk through the beautiful game.

Last but not least is the shopping in Glasgow. Shopping centres cover everything from high street brands to international designers. So when you fly into Glasgow Airport, make sure you’ve left enough space in your bags!

I’m from Glasgow but haven’t lived there for many years.

I’m from Glasgow but haven’t lived there for many years. Great parks, great shops. Always something going on. Amazing pubs everywhere. Some with traditional musicians and theatre sessions (Oran Mor for “a play, a pie and a pint) Glasgow has a buzz of energy. Centuries of fascinating history, stories, legends. And you’re a couple of hours away from breathtaking natural beauty if you head north.

Nice clean city . great pedestrian streets with lots of shopping. Amazing history and museums, the River side museum was very interesting we could have spend more time there. People were incredible friendly came up to us a view times on the street to asked if they could help to find something. The subway was efficient and easy to use and very clean. We would like to go back again in the future.

Transport was excellent, travelling by bus or underground. Must visits: Kelvingrove Art Galleries, Cathedral, Botanic Gardens. Buchanan Street and St Enoch's Shopping Malls. Plentiful restaurants to suit all tastes. Regular trains for one day trips to other Scottish destinations from Central Station and Queen Street Station.

People are so friendly. The centre is impressive and well kept, with no litter- amazing compared to other city centres. We visited some first class museums, walked alongside the Clyde, Marvelled at the Govan Stones, and ate in some super restaurants

Glasgow has something for all tastes.

Glasgow has something for all tastes. The transport system is excellent but many places of interest can be walked if you are located in the centre. Kelvin Grove museum and art gallery is a must visit and the riverside transport museum which is close by is very good. I can recommend both the Santa Lucia and The Italian Kitchen both on Ingram Street. Great food and atmosphere. For pub food the Auld Hundred on Rose Street is superb.

I travelled to Glasgow to attend a concert ( Half Man Half Biscuit at the o2 ) , to meet up with some friends , and to visit the Riverboat Casino . I was also there to pay a visit to my sister and her family , who live in Renfrewshire . My friend and I ate at the Blue Lagoon outlet in St Enoch's Square shopping centre , which was quick and convenient . But couldn't be described as anything other than fast food , in fairly uncomfortable surroundings . We stopped for a drink in Hootanany's on our walk across the Clyde to the enjoyable gig at the o2 . I went to the Riverboat Casino afterwards , and enjoyed a small win . I booked a taxi from there back to my hotel , and retired for the night . Everything went well . I should mention that the breaded haddock was very good at the Blue Lagoon .

This was the cheapest hotel that we could find in Glasgow and for the price we paid it was grand. The location close to a couple of subway stations was great, ideal for getting into the city centre quickly. The restaurant and bar were good value, especially for the location

The hotel is incredibly easy to get to from Glasgow Queen Street train station and is a great location for exploring the city centre. The staff were excellent, friendly and very helpful. In terms of value for money it's about the best I've found.
