We truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location is excellent, and the value for money is remarkable. The interiors and style of the hotel make you feel as if you’ve stepped into another era. Since my wife plays the piano, it was a wonderful surprise to see a grand piano in one of the halls. Another huge advantage is the hotel staff — on the very first day we approached them with a few requests, and all of them were more than fulfilled. We are very grateful for such attentive service. Thank you for this wonderful experience!

The accommodation was beautiful, the staff were very kind and helpful, the breakfast included in the price was delicious. Only the location of the hotel is a bit impractical for travelers without their own car (but everything can be solved by bus, which leaves from a small village 15 minutes' walk from the hotel).

The staff are super friendly and so helpful. Our flight was delayed and they waited up to let us in at a very late hour. Breakfast was incredible and Grahame is a delight to chat with each morning. Clean and cosy room. Great location with bus stop outside the door. Beautiful village. We leave today somewhat sadly but will be back!

    Nice country village with good shops and facilities.

    Nice country village with good shops and facilities. We ate twice at the Coronation Restaurant situated on the main street. Easy access and we used the train twice,once to Edinburgh and another time to Galashields. Parking at the railway station is free and good access to the platform. We are not young, but enjoyed a visit to the nearby Mining Museum which was reasonably priced and the guides were very informative.

    Honestly I booked 3 nights but I wish I’d booked a whole week, it was the perfect break away from busy life to just destress and relax in a stunning log cabin with my dogs and family with beautiful views of the mountains and stunning horses playing in the fields everyday it felt like a movie and stunning walks with the dogs too

    Peaceful picturesque setting and located in a quiet village away from the hustle and bustle but only a short drive away from various activities and about 30 minutes car drive from Edinburgh which was just about right.

    The Arches was a comfortable place to stay.

    The Arches was a comfortable place to stay. The hosts, Jude and Phil, were friendly, helpful and well informed about local amenities and sites of interest. Check out the Ormskirk Yew-truly amazing. And the great cafe and shop in Humbie. The Italian eatery in Gorebridge is authentic and the food and staff are so good-we went twice (119). Direlton is a sedate village and nearby Yellowcraig has a gorgeous beach and nature reserve.
