Great find along the bank of the River Clyde.
Great find along the bank of the River Clyde. Basic room but well equipped and very clean. Man who checked us in was very helpful and explained everything. Near to the historic centre and opposite Lidl supermarket. Recommend eating at Spicycurry Nepalese restaurant behind the bus station. Greenock has a good selection of supermarkets and shops together with an inviting waterfront along which to stroll. Enjoyed our trip on the paddle steamer Waverley. I work in Greenock but stayed at the Waterfron to attend an event at the Alabany due to the train strikes that week. My room was a student room next to other occupied student rooms so I could hear a lot of noise from the next room - radio, someone talking loudly on his phone. The worst part was the lack of hot water in the shower. I asked the manager about this and he said it was an issue with the water pressure. Apartment was one of the cleanest we've been in and all communication with the host was clear and straightforward. A lovely stay for our family's first time in Scotland. There is a local SPAR across the road, and ample free parking on the street. Overall the town was a good location to get to Glasgow (we took the train from Greenock West, only 4 mins away) and to the Loch Lomond area.
