Halifax town is a nice little place without being...
Halifax town is a nice little place without being overwhelmingly busy. We were there to attend a gig at The Piece Hall which is an excellent venue, both historic and having a great atmosphere. Piece Hall is well worth a visit as through the day all the independent small shops are open, ranging from craft makers to crystals, clothing and the obligatory 'magic' shop. There's plenty places to sit and enjoy a drink or a light meal. Halifax market is an impressive Victorian structure but sadlty the stalls don't really offer much in the way of interest. Westgate Arcade is an interesting part of town and close to Piece Hall. It's got a few independent shops, cafés and bars as well as places to enjoy a meal. Halifax is a good location for visiting other parts of West Yorkshire. Hebden Bridge and Haworth are both close by.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We stayed in Ovenden. Halifax looked great for bars and food - there was a concert on a Piece Hall when we were there. I would recommend Hebden Bridge, Ovenden and Haworth. The Piece Hall and Calderdale Industrial Museum are both highly recommended, as is nearby Shibden Hall, the historic home of Anne Lister. For proper old fashioned fish & chips Pearson's Restaurant is well worth a visit.Guest review bySallyAustralia - 10.0
I have always loved the Piece Hall as a place to sit and...
I have always loved the Piece Hall as a place to sit and have a drink. Having now attended a music event there I can recommend it as a gig venue. The beauty of the venue, with the hills behind and the Teskey Brothers playing live was something very special. There is also live music for free at the Westgate Arcade every Saturday afternoon in the summer. Sowerby music festival was on just down the road while we were in Halifax, which was a lot of fun. Plus we went over to Saltaire where the dragon boat festival was on in Roberts Park. It's beautiful and a short walk to sowerby bridge where you can get the train to Halifax. Or a taxi is 10 mins. The hotel rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The restaurant food is incredible and the staff are lovely. We would stay again but wouldn't pay more for balcony as like I say you cannot keep windows open to keep cool.
