Ulbster Arms is a very special hotel. On arrival, we sat out in the beer garden (on a beautiful warm Scotland day) and enjoyed a wonderful dinner and plentiful breakfast. Our room was very large, beautifully decorated and we had a comfortable, large bed. Staff were so friendly, especially the young girls serving in the restaurant.

best night ever!! there’s nothing to complain about. hot tub and fire pit are the cherry on top. we enjoyed it so much that we returned for another night up there. made our trip to Scotland extra special - highly recommended!!

Our room (a family room facing the street) was absolutely beautiful, very spacious, with a wall-full of huge windows letting in lots of light. It was tastefully decorated, clean, with comfortable beds, all the furniture looked new, the room looked recently painted, the dinner and breakfast were excellent, the staff friendly. It was handy having parking facilities. The pictures on Booking.com don’t do it justice. We were expecting it to be run-down and a bit shabby, but although it’s an older building, it’s well taken care of and clean, and quite charming. Bigger than expected.

The room was lovely and warm and had everything we needed. We just stayed one night on our way to Orkney and it was good to be able to have dinner downstairs as it was quite cold and we really appreciated our hot breakfast before our ferry ride to Orkney the next morning. We would stay here again.

Very nice rooms with a very comfortable bed, slept like a log on both nights I stayed. Very friendly staff, always asked if everything was ok. Will definitely be staying there again. Got treated to live music on the Saturday with a great atmosphere.

The hosts were so amazing. They had a little sitting area and brought us tea and snacks when we first arrived. My daughter was in their play area building things and it felt really nice to come home to at night. It was quiet and yet still close to amenities in the area. The bathroom was huge and my daughter was so excited for the tub.

    A really lovely hotel.

    A really lovely hotel. Food (breakfast and dinner) was amazing (apart from Tart Tatin very soggy pastry). Staff professional, helpful and friendly. Disappointed couldn’t have a cocktail at bar. However, a fab place to stay.

    The perfect getaway. Achmeney pod sits 3 miles from Halkirk in a peaceful quiet rural area. The pod is surprisingly bigger than it looks. It comfortably accommodates 2 with a double bedroom, kitchen and living area with its own toilet and shower. The bed was cozy and the pod is well insulated so always nice and warm. On arrival Andrea came and met us and showed us around and how to work the hot tub. ( the hot tub is amazing lol) will definitely recommend to friends and family and will definitely come back again

    Everything about this wee cottage I love! The space, the location, ease of use and the peaceful surroundings of Halkirk. Second time in 2 months staying here and will definitely be booking again. The cottage has all you need and in a great place to use as a base for exploring and with the hotel literally a 2 minute walk, great for a meal and drink at the bar.

    We were put in a deluxe lodge instead as our booked accommodation was no longer available. The lodge was part of the nearby Ulbster Arms Hotel also owned by the owners which was fantastic. Food at the hotel was very good.
