    Hanmer is a tiny village lost in time; it has a large mere for wild swimming and woodland walk; the handsome ancient church is open daily and the view down its churchyard towards the Mere is a delight. If visiting after dark, take a torch as there is limited street lighting which all adds to the charm. We ate in the Hanmer Arms for breakfasts and evening meal, both using quality products and well prepared. It is ideally suited to casual travellers or overnight wedding guests.

    The greatest asset of this hotel is its staff. I felt very well looked after during my stay, they seemed to have a genuine concern in making my stay comfortable. Just as an example, as I am not an early riser on holiday I usually just skip breakfast - this is the first time that I wake up and find my breakfast outside my room, and without even having asked for it. That's even more remarkable considering that this is an establishment run by a hard working family with (very nice) kids and not a plush fancy hotel with loads of staff :)

    Breakfast was good with a few unusual options in addition to the standard breakfast. The quality of the evening meals was excellent though service could be slow especially for desserts. I stayed at the Hanmer thirty years ago and while it's lost a lot of its quirky charm it's still a lovely place to stay

    The breakfast was absolutely delicious and exceptional haven't had a breakfast as good as that for a very long time 😊 highly recommend the whole experience thankyou Hanmer Arms will definitely be coming back 👍😊

    Excellent stay at the hanmer arms and I will be back , lovely peaceful location , the staff were very friendly and always on hand to help , excellent breakfast to round off a very enjoyable stay , 100% recommend

    Staff were really attentive, Hanmer is a lovely rural village and the food was really good. Especially liked the Vanilla French toast and berries option served at breakfast 😋
