Fabulous building in a great location, easy to get to bakewell and chatsworth, peaceful and relaxing. The staff were all amazing and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast and evening meal were delicious and the packed lunch was an unexpected treat. Being able to take our dogs was brilliant for us and they enjoyed it too. Can’t rate it highly enough, can’t wait to visit again.

The loveliest loft with the most beautiful view from the door. The loft has everything you need and more for a wonderful weeks stay. Exceptionally clean with the best shower we’ve ever used. The log burner was so lovely to sit by and feel cosy in the evenings. With high quality items used throughout, for example, the bedding and the towels. What a comfy bed it was too! We will definitely be back!

The cottage was warm on arrival and had been decorated for Xmas. Mrs Bradbury let us in and showed us the heating controls, and the complimentary milk and biscuits then left us to settle in. Cottage so cosy and comfortable. Beds duvets and pillows just right! Kitchen stocked with the necessary equipment and a nice set of knives. Everything neat and tidy. Resident Peacock and chickens were great to see on the doorstep every day. 😊

We loved the location, the B&B room was large and comfortable with a fabulous big bed. breakfast was simple but delicious. During our stay we ate in the restaurant and the food was good quality home cooked food at decent prices. we needed a real away from at all break after a tough year and this place gave us just that. Highly recommend.

    Lovely village.

    Lovely village. Nice Indian restaurant in the Charles Cotton Hotel & great food at the Devonshire Arms. Village Cheese shop is good & there are 2 good small grocery shops. Lots of nice walks in the beautiful surrounding countryside.

    Nice popular village with lots of walks in the area and a few you can do right from your door. It also has 2 good pubs both of which do nice food (booking very muchrecommended). The village shop is excellent and seems to sell almost anything you could need. The baps (I'd call them cobs being from Leics) are particularly nice and good value.

    Lovely village and unspoilt. The Church was very interesting and definitely worth a visit. We really enjoyed exploring the village. We stayed overnight in The Devonshire Arms. What a fabulous Inn. Great room, cosy bar with log burner & fantastic food,

    Location was perfect for our planned walking weekend.

    Location was perfect for our planned walking weekend. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Food was amazing, we had evening meal on both nights. Also the packed lunches were a lovely extra. Fabulous stay.

    Very pleasant small village, perhaps a bit "touristy", but...

    Very pleasant small village, perhaps a bit "touristy", but not surprising considering its location. Small and very easy to walk round. Free street parking in centre, but I think there is a pay parking area. Two pubs/hotels. We avoided the Charles Cotton due to our experience on a previous visit. Enjoyed the other one, but can't remember its name. Pleasant small cafe, which is also local Post Office - lovely ice cream!! Well-stocked village shop.

    I have always liked Hartington I have no problem with the place just the accommodation but as we only stayed for one night and the weather was appalling we didn’t go around the village this time . We love the cafe and the cheese shop

    The staff were lovely and under the circumstances, having just taken ownership doing their best. We understand the previous owners had let things get rather run down and photos on this website are not a true reflection. The hotel, under new ownershi, really has the potential to flourish but care needs to be taken for them to upgrade what they have inherited and give it 110%. The staff themselves were very welcoming and we wish them all success for the future.

    A beautiful hotel in a stunning location. Well equipped with everything you could need. Staff were all welcoming and friendly. The surprise complimentary packed lunch was such a lovely addition. An excellent selection of continental and cooked breakfasts. Great walks from the doorstep.

    The location but not the drive to the accommodation. I believe Hartington was advertised as being much closer to the accommodation than it actually was. The property was very clean and comfortable.
