Hawkshead is a lovely village, with enough to do without being busy or over-commercial.All the places we visited were friendly, good value and authentic. Walks around the village are lovely, covering a range of abilities. Hawkshead also has historical importance, with its links to Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter.

Hawkshead is a tranquil little village, it has quite a few bed and breakfast and pubs. There is nowhere better to stay than this little gem, if you’re just going for a meal there are plenty of places to go. Even if not staying there it’s well worth the visit. The trip across the ferry makes the holiday.

We stayed for 4 nights which allowed us to explore Hawkshead, Coniston, Ambleside and Hardnott pass/Roman fort which was stunning. We could have easily stayed another day or two, but 4 days and nights means we're keen for more another time. Hawkshead itself is a perfect spot as a base for exploring further afield in the lakes. It is a relatively quiet village after the tourists go home, but there are two lovely pubs which give just the right amount of life for us. If you're looking for a livelier evening scene, Ambleside ticks those boxes.

Great location in the Lakes and great value for money with breakfast included. Friendly staff and warm welcome. Modern access with no keys etc. Our rooms was serviced daily which we didn’t expect. We were given a fan when we mentioned we were too hot. Super dog friendly. Modern and clean. Lovely bathroom products, smelt Devine. Lovely restaurant in the evenings too. We would 100% stay again, possibly just in one of the larger rooms available to book.

The Hosts are very welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was amazing and worth every penny. There are nice pubs, cafes & a chippy within easy walking distance that provide meals. The Old School House is very dog friendly, the property is situated very close to the village centre, while Hawkshead is a good base for travelling around Cumbria, both by car and the regular bus service.
