We were provided a warm welcome by Fiona. The building and tastefully decorated rooms were fantastic with a lovely balcony to watch the sunset. Breakfast was great. We also loved the two cats, Pjckles and Chutney. 100% recommended.

The building is full of character and has a history going back to the 1385. We were made welcome by the owners who ensured we enjoyed our stay. In the evenings there is a great atmosphere in the bar being popular with the locals. As for the food it’s top quality restaurant standard. Without doubt this is the best place to stay in the area we are going to stay again in the summer

Such a welcoming family space, thoughtfully done out with everything you could want. Such a pleasant walk into Hay. Honesty probably one of the nicest places we’ve stayed with through booking.com.

What a gem! Located centrally in town and with parking, we were delighted to stay in this authentic guesthouse. We were welcomed warmly and made to feel very welcome by Captain and his lovely sidekick, Di. It is close to recommended pubs, bookshops, and a few minutes walk to the castle. Breakfast was delicious! So pleased we found it!

As expected there were a great many book shops. Also some attractive gift type shops and being a Saturday an interesting craft market. Lots of eateries but staying at the Old Black Lion we didn’t need to use them. Very best being a bank holiday weekend

A great property clean and modern, well equipped and great location. Sleeps five. we previously stayed in hay on wye in band b which was very scruffy. This property was 100% better. If you don’t cook there are great cafes a very short walk away. We will recommend this property to friends

Hay is lovely for the second-hand bookshop afficionado and also set in beautiful surroundings with fantastic walks along the river Wye. During the book festival it can be crowded, and difficult to find accommodation. Be warned you need to book well in advance. If camping suits you, Racquety farm is excellent and not too far from town. Some good pubs and restaurants: the three tuns, excellent value for money and the blue boar, more pricey but good garden

We were there for the Hay Festival, which is a perennial book and cultural festival held for 2 weeks each may. This is the first time we attended and we pretty much just moved between our off-site bell tent at Drovers Rest and the tent city that is the Festival. We recommend the festival-every event we signed up for was worth it. In the 4 days we were there we really didn't have time to explore the town, which is walking distance and we are told has many book stores! We did attend Snodhill castle as a walking tour as part of the festival with a tour led by the head of the trust that is doing archeology and restoration work on it. It was fascinating and a little taste of opportunities in the region.

A lovely, cozy little shepherd's hut. A safe and enclosed space for the dog to run free, an ultra comfy bed, well equipt kitchenette and efficient shower. Hot water straight away. Fire pit, wood burner/stove and ample wood freely available. Mountain view and only the sound of sheep and nature to distract. Hay on Wye only a stone's throw from Clyro. Karen and Jim are great hosts. The perfect weekend getaway! .

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It is in a great location for Hay-onWye town centre, the book festival as well as great views over the countryside. We could see that the team there were working hard to make an enjoyable stay for their guests. Excellent dinner and breakfast menu selection. Very comfy rooms, full of character, but do remember to pay attention to the "Mind Your Head" signs!!

Great location, friendly hosts. Lovely apartment with lots of space - really comfortable with lots of character. Loved the goats, chickens and geese! So easy to walk into Hay - felt perfect having the best of both worlds - Hay on your doorstep but beautiful countryside surrounding you. Enjoyed walking across the field for a swim in the Wye.

We loved the location - right in the middle of Hay and with a parking space too! Perfect! We didn’t use the car all weekend and just walked everywhere. Highly recommend getting a takeaway from the conservative club and eating it at the house! Portions were huge and food was delicious. The house is very old and quirky, full of character!
