Horncastle is a former market town (and cattle-market town) now fallen on hard times. It has several, ahem, antique shops at the junk shop end of the scale. Horncastle is a small former market town.
Horncastle is a small former market town. Although in decline since the loss of the market, it still has character. It has several antique shops, some of them better described as junk shops, and a second-hand book shop. It's certainly worth a stroll around. Its location is good for off-the-beaten-track exploring of this part of Lincolnshire, and is within moderate distance of Boston and Lincoln, as well as being close to the historic RAF aeroplane locations.Guest review byNigel OgilvieUnited Kingdom - 8.0

It's a small town with plenty of history including a roman wall, various churches within easy reach and is on the Viking Way. It has lots of antique and vintage stores, plenty of cute charity stores. There are several cafes including The Forgotten Tearoom which is a combination of vintage store and traditional tea room with afternoon teas and sandwiches. Stayed on a Sunday night, the town was pretty quiet, but certainly not empty. Clean streets and a good selection of places to drink, but not all places serve food on Sunday nights.
