We love the Norh Yorkshire Coast, but find staying on the outskirts of the main resorts such as Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington is a lot less hassle. Obviously transport is a must. There is a local train station and I do believe you can get to Filey this way, but travellers would need to check this. I came to Hunmanby as a child with my parents and the reasons for travelling now was to do a bit of reminiscing. It was lovely to go back. There has been a lot of building work and expansion, but there is still a spot on Castle Hill where you can stand and still see the original Hunmanby , where nothing seems to have changed for a couple of hundred years. Lovely little village with all the amenities you need. 2 shops, 2 bakeries, plenty of take away options if required and 4 good pubs each with their own differing aspects to give. A games pub and 3 doing differing foods Pies and the Piebald should only be attempted if you're really hungry! The White Swan has just had a makeover and now has a good range of food served daily And it's close enough to the beach but a short drive back and you're away from the maddening crowds Ideal base for exploring the local area and a good place to return to for the chill you need And if you don't drive, or don't want to, there's a regular bus route passing through and a train station so it really is accessible for allGuest review bypeterUnited Kingdom - 10.0
