My meal on the first evening was cold and overcooked.
My meal on the first evening was cold and overcooked. The black pudding Bon Bons on the second night were also cold but hot on the first night. The room was satisfactory but would not have rated this as 4 star, not much different to a premier inn. Facilities were poor, not much to do. As a group of 9 people we used the pool/snooker room, Informed on the first night it would close at 11pm. Ordered drinks at approximately 10.40pm and at 10.45pm were told by a young member of staff that his supervisor told him to tell us 'we had to leave'. When we asked the young staff member, who had worked there for only a few weeks, who his supervisor was he couldn't even tell us his full name. Members of our party approached the said supervisor and were given a very rude reception from this so called supervisor, the same response was received when they questioned why were able to order drinks 5 minutes prior to be asked to leave. They were told if they didn't like it they could leave the hotel. All in all, not the best response after we had spent so much money eating and drinking on the premises. If a supervisor/manager cannot respond in a professional manner and expect a young staff member to do his dirty work, then he should not be a supervisor. It is a charming costal village.
It is a charming costal village. It is quite small and businesses (restaurants, shops) are not opened all day long, but one must only inquire about their opening times (for example the local Fish and Chips shop is opened from 17.00 till 20.00). If interested in fresh air and walking on the beach or the costal path it is a very good choice for a holiday. It is also well conected to other tourist attractions by train and bus (ex. by train: Kinghorn to Edinburgh City -1 hour;. We so enjoyed our stay, that we asked the lovely girl at reception, if we could stay for another night. Unfortunately there was a pool competition, which meant that the whole hotel was already booked! We seriously would have stayed for another two nights if it had been available. When we both ordered steaks one night, mine, rare/ blue, and my partner's, rare, I truly was not hopeful, most chefs do not cook steaks that much to order, unless you are in a five star hotel. However, we were absolutely delighted, we asked to speak with the chef! He was charming, what a wonderful stay, we so wish that we could have booked another two nights!
