Leven is on the train line now, about an hour from Edinburgh. It's a bit of a one-horse town with only 1 restaurant open after 8pm, apart from a 60s style steak-house. The beaches near Leven, Lower Largo and north are fantastic. If you have dogs or just like a walk and like to explore then these beaches are for you. Not a lot to do in Leven itself, the precinct was pretty drab. The Windsor pub was fine for a blether with the locals. Base pizza was fine. Nice golf courses and decent food in the clubhouse. Beach was pretty good, not busy. Plenty small villages with character along the coast to visit, then the busy St Andrews ,with plenty shops, a bit of a fight for a parking spot.
