Location was perfect. Less than 3 miles from Linlithgow with easy access to both Edinburgh & Glasgow Cities via regular & frequent train service. Quiet spot in the countryside, surrounded by farmland. Taxi back from Linlithgow in the late evening cost £8.60. Plenty of nice pubs & eateries to choose from in town. Accommodation was very spacious, heated by central heating. We loved the woodburning stove. Amazing breakfast package provided too. Lovely, helpful hosts.

We enjoyed staying here. We were so surprised by the cleanliness, for a hostel it was impeccable! Location was great, so close to the castle and the park. In true honesty we really like that the bathroom and shower room were on the hall. The room was pretty big and the beds really comfortable.

    Plenty of cafes and restaurants in the town. Train service is very good. A visit to Linlithgow Palace is a must and there is a delightful 4km walk around Linlithgow Loch including Linlithgow Palace.

    Quiet town, only 2 restaurants available for dinner. Not much to do except for the Linlithgow Palace, which was a must-see location. This town is perfect for a short visit, or if you want to take a book and sit by the loch for an afternoon of relaxation. The hotel was less than a half mile walk from the train station, so the location was very convenient for a short visit from Edinburgh, where we spent most of our vacation. The palace is technically a ruin, but you can climb inside the towers and see all the rooms, guided by a free audio app on your cellphone. This town has manicured garden beds and lots of flowers - very historic and charming.

    An old, historic town which has managed to update itself...

    An old, historic town which has managed to update itself without losing the charm of it's really quite special old stone buildings, with a number of attractive side streets leading to the loch edge. Plenty coffee shops, gift shops etc, and of course the Palace where Mary Queen of Scots was born. Ready access to the canal, railway and motorway to Stirling and Edinburgh, apart from the many other towns in the area. Too many potential attractions to list here.

    A quiet country town, Linlithgow is close enough to Edinburgh for convenience but distant enough to retain a less hectic pace of life. It has excellent communications, a historic centre and a Loch and surrounds of great beauty.

    You must visit the Linlithgow Palace!

    You must visit the Linlithgow Palace! The streets in Linlithgow are walkable, so that's nice. Be aware whenever you are anywhere in Scotland on a Monday, restaurants and shops may be closed (I ran into this all over each Monday). Otherwise, Linlithgow is a quaint town with rich history. Go!

    Brand new hotel in beautiful a beautiful converted civic building. Friendly staff. Very well located in the centre of Linlithgow opposite the Palace. Small kitchenette, lovely touches such as milk in fridge and snacks for breakfast. Plus complimentary coffee in reception! Close to cafes, restaurants and a good variety of supermarkets. Free parking and train station only 5 mins walk, highly recommend…

    Spotlessly clean, lovely deco, home from home,everything you need is there and parking very easy. Unfortunately we were only there for one night so didn’t get to see much of Linlithgow which looks like it’s got lots to see especially around the loch, maybe we will come back one day.
