Victorian Resort with a Welsh Twist
The most popular Wales seaside resort, Llandudno covers a peninsula with 2 sandy coastlines. The North Shore’s wide Victorian promenade is lined with period buildings which now house seafront hotels and guest houses. The beach itself stretches all the way between the Little Orme and Great Orme headlands, passing an outdoor swimming pool.
A historic tram climbs to the peak of Great Orme, where Bronze Age copper mines can be visited. The top is also reachable by cable car from Happy Valley, a recreation area with gardens and an artificial ski slope.
A road runs around the base of the headland passing the historic Grand Hotel, a property available on Booking.com and overlooking the Grade II-listed pier – the longest in Wales. The West Shore is much less developed and the Maesdu Golf Course forms most of its shoreline.
Of course, Llandudno has its fair share of traditional seaside pursuits such as donkey rides and fish and chip shops.
The town also has a modern retail park near the train station and Venue Cymru event centre, and wrought-iron canopies shade smaller shops along Mostyn Avenue, Broadway and Street. The latter - Mostyn Street - is effectively the high street and becomes brightly decorated during the Victorian carnival in May.

Lovely town in a beautiful spot. Vibrant and welcoming. Lots to do and close to some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK. Fantastic place with some awesome restaurants and clean air. We ate at Abode which was fantastic. Take the tramway up great orme for some wonderful views. Take your time to still along the promenade and pier. Oh, and hope for good weather. We parked our car on the front right opposite our...
We parked our car on the front right opposite our accommodation and it never moved for the three days we were there. No parking restrictions were in place but they did seem to be putting parking meters in along the strip so may need to check if they have continued. The walk around the Great Orme is amazing but hard work can be very windy although there is alternatives to walking it. We ending up in Conwy but would recommend a bus back or taxi. While there we enjoyed a meal in an old bank and of course the obligatory ice cream, very nice and well earned! Local restaurants in Llandudno are really good but can be busy so book a table where possible. The Hotel is absolutely pristine throughout and situated in the best location with sea views overlooking the famous pier. The Breakfast is buffet style with a massive choice and if you have a big appetite you'll love it. The hosts Julia and Paul are lovely people and cannot do enough for you nothing is too much trouble Paul won't even let you carry your cases to your room and the staff are all superb. There is a specific lounge and restaurant for those people staying who had a dog and the dog was aloud to sit with you. Loved the staff at the hotel, we only stayed 2 nights but they remembered our names when we ordered drinks or our breakfast/dinner.
