We absolutely loved every minute. Our 13 year old daughter and us had a wonderful time. Loved the very lovely shepherds hut. We would definitely return. Staff were lovely. Accommodation was heated when we arrived which made it feels so warm and welcoming

We had an excellent week. The location is perfect for shops, train station , pubs , etc … The house had everything we needed, very comfy bed, quiet area. Good base for walking more of the Welsh coast path . Local Filco supermarket has an excellent deli selling fab pies and lasagne.

Lovely inn with excellent food and clean and cozy rooms. Of note, while our room was above the pub it was surprisingly quiet and hence relaxing.

    I was in llantwit Major visiting friends and family as I lived in llantwit for 50 years. It is a lovely town, has loads of history and is a very pretty area as is all the Vale of Glamorgan. I would thoroughly recommend a visit here. Many lovely beaches along the coast, from Barry Island to Porthcawl. Cardiff City is 30 minutes drive from Llantwit and is a beautiful city.

    Llantwit Major is a small town with a good mixture of shops...

    Llantwit Major is a small town with a good mixture of shops and other facilities. There are a number of restaurants and pubs. Food on Sunday evenings was take-away only in September. The town is a mixture of old and new buildings. The picturesque coast and beach is a 10 minute drive away.

    We really, really enjoyed our 1 night stay at The Great...

    We really, really enjoyed our 1 night stay at The Great House with Paula as our very welcoming host. The whole property is charming and beautifully styled throughout and has a lovely warm, authentic feel. The Great House was immaculately clean and cosy and was even better in reality than the beautiful photos suggested. We had a private bathroom just a short walk along the corridor which was warm and modern with all the facilities you expect including a great shower. Breakfast was superb with English breakfast, cereal, toast and yoghurt and berries. Paula even made us a fantastic hot chocolate as we’re both not coffee or tea drinkers. Wish we had more time to explore the garden and surrounding area more but we will definitely be back to enjoy the lovely welcome and perfect room. We called back on our way back to collect an item we had left behind and we got the chance to share our happy news with Paula of our engagement and she very kindly gifted us a bottle of Prosecco which was very sweet. Don’t hesitate to book a stay at The Great House in Llantwit Major. You won’t be disappointed.

    Character town but need care over road humps quite leathal...

    Character town but need care over road humps quite leathal so go slow. Couple of great pubs and more original . Had full on meal in The Swan and reasonably priced. Main course more than enough so very reluctantly couldn’t indulge in the sweet. Will be revisiting that is for sure and explore town and walks nearby. Not place if all facilities for young families needed.

    Fantastic beach. Perfect for crabbing.

    Fantastic beach. Perfect for crabbing. Tide comes in early pm so go early if you want to swim in the sea. Make sure to take cash as cafe doesn't take card. The food there is lovely and the cakes are yummy.

    Paula is a lovely host and the building is superb. We had 'Ben's Room' and it was beautiful, practical and comfortable, with loads of character. Breakfast was of the best, cooked perfectly and nicely presented. For us it was ideally located. Llantwit Major beach is stunning, though difficult to access for those disabled or unsteady on their feet. Porthcawl is an easy drive.
