On a busy main route to/from Scotland, Longtown would be a good stopover. Beautiful Cumbrian countryside on its doorstep. Nice walk around the Longtown ponds or along the river. Nice quiet village.
Nice quiet village. We stayed at the camelot caravan park and decided on longtown as its in easy reach for various day trips. The Greyson arms pub is very welcoming and friendly and accept dogs (with free treats for our dog as soon as we arrived) food was delicious here too. The esk chippy and spice fusion was good but the classic pizza shop wasn't that great (chips were undercooked, garlic bread was like cardboard). Overall, longtown has everything you need for a few days stay including a spar and petrol station but we used the area as a base to explore Hadrians wall, west coast of Scotland (Gretna, powfoot) and Carlisle.Guest review byHannahUnited Kingdom

So many little touches that made the stay that little bit more memorable. Contact with the hosts was quick and easy. The Prosecco, milk, orange juice, bread and butter left in the fridge, and Granola, rice and spaghetti in the jars was so thoughtful. Parking was easy - right outside the front door. Everything was clean and tidy, and there was lots of information to hand on the local area.
