Macclesfield has a real personality, history and character.
Macclesfield has a real personality, history and character. One Sunday a month they have the Treacle Market, but it was cancelled due to Storm Bert. The silk museum was also closed, which was disappointing, so it could be worth another trip. We were only there overnight but felt a really pleasant vibe. We lived in Macclesfield over 18 years ago, and got married there, so this was a nostalgic trip. The town has become quite trendy in the intervening years with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. A good base to visit Peak District.
A good base to visit Peak District. Shopping centre in decline. Local bus services in decline but possible to reach Hayfield and Buxton. Plus very good train service to Manchester, London, Birmingham etc. Some good eateries - especially excellent Plums Kitchen.Guest review byDavidFrance - 10.0
I like Macclesfield because it is a pretty town with good...
I like Macclesfield because it is a pretty town with good links to Manchester if you need the big city, the Peak District if you like walking, and Buxton if you want a bit of culture. The town is of a manageable size with pretty parks, and it has various small events going on in the local pubs, plus each month there is the Treacle Market, which is a popular feature of Macclesfield.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom

Staff are excellent, checking in no problem. The room is well appointed with a very comfortable bed, shower/bath with plenty of fresh towels, soaps, shower gels etc. Added bonus it was in the perfect location for my purposes.
