    A lovely little place.

A lovely little place. Very quaint with some independent shops, restaurants and cafes. I used it as a base to visit Burghley house, Grimsthorpe, castle and Peterborough cathedral. Stayed at the Talbot hotel in the centre of the village. A lovely hotel with great dining

A beautiful small town with most facilities and some lovely small independent shops. We loved the fruit and veg market on a Thursday and there are some nice cafes. Internet connection is poor so that could be a problem for some. Some cafes have WiFi. Anyone used to big-city facilities could be disappointed by the small range of restaurants and extremely quiet night life, but for most people looking for a short break away from all that, it's perfect.

We are a retired couple and I am not very agile so I found some difficulty negotiating the complicated layout. We only had one night and it was cold and rainy so didn't explore much. Oundle seems dominated by the Public School and we were told that the two large churches were stripped out for school use so we didn't visit them. The main reason for the visit was to meet friends in a pretty village nearby.

Beautiful Town with a great market, loved walking around, the history fantastic and is close to other amenities. Good for parking, lots of places to stop for a couple of hours, plenty of cafes and pubs and near to a country park which was excellent.

I was born in Oundle over sixty years ago and it has not changed too much in that time only the shops have improved and changed hands. However the last bank closed recently and we couldn’t find a link machine but there might have been one in Waitrose. The architecture is lovely and has a long history as the home of a Public school which encompasses the entire town. It is surrounded by the river Nene great for fishing and has a marina and a renowned boat building company Fairline boats. A lovely country park with old gravel pits now filled with water which attracts plenty of wild life. Plenty of places to have coffee and snacks plus a couple of pubs and two hotels/ Inn. Plus farmers markets are held on certain dates in the market square. There is also a wonderful artist and his shop on West Street who paints fantastic paintings of Oundle etc. It has a couple of supermarkets a comprehensive school, a Grammer school and a Public school which encompasses a lot of the town which is now co- educational and was originally founded by the Grocers of London, a very elite school. Overall a nice place to visit.

Oundle is only a small town but there are some useful and very good shops eg. independent bookshop, shoe shop, cookware shop. It is easily accessible for some lovely walks and cycle rides. In the evening it is fairly quiet and it is compact enough to wander around.

Just wonderful - our 2nd Christmas in Chapel Cottage in beautiful Oundle. Helen makes sure the cottage is spotlessly clean and indeed it was just as stunning and comfortable as it was in Dec 2022. Really loved the festive touches such as a tree, lights, Christmas flowers and a delish box of posh Lindor chocs.

Staff were professional and friendly. The hotel is extremely old building and loads of charm but also manages to be comfortable and modern in places . Great breakfast and a lovely room with great coffee and a nice radio, lots of little touches . couldn’t ask for more
