A good location for visiting the local attractions, we visited Highclere Castle and St Nicholas Church famous for Jane Austen, but other places of historical interest to visit as well. Lovely countryside and many walks you can take and the main village has plenty of shops and a good choice of pubs and eating places all within walking distance

Overton is a pleasant village with more than a handful of shops and a few good pubs and restaurants to enjoy. It's a great location when visiting the Bombay Sapphire Distillery as there's a bus stop literally on the opposite side of the cross-roads and the bus drops you right outside Laverstoke Mill. Both Redfort Tandoori and Amore Italian restaurants were excellent for evening meals.

A very interesting small town with some important history. The White Hart was a good place to stay with good food available. Most things are within walking distance and we were lucky to be there for the monthly Farmers Market in the village hall, where everyone was very keen to chat.

There was a Jane Austen festival, and the town is noted for its connection to her. The town has good restaurants and pubs and is well connected for Basingtoke and the M3. We ate at a local Indian. Good quality food. Friendly as well. Some good shops celebrating Overton and selling curios and gifts. Well worth a look.

We have family here - it’s a lovely little town on the River Test with lots of amenities and walks - a real community. Off the beaten track but nonetheless convenient for many things including Basingstoke and the Bombay Sapphire gin distillery nearby.
