A town that has grown a lot in size but still retains a small town feel with a bustling high street with many local businesses. The marina is impressive and a good place for a pleasant walk. Stoney beaches are very accessible and while they are not ideal for bathing they afford good views across the channel. We particularly enjoyed walking around the marina & on out along the coastline heading south. The town centre was busy, the usual shops were found along the High Street, plus some independents. The beach is not really viable - lots of signs warning of 'sinking sands'. Some good places to eat in the Marina & near the harbour. Portishead marina is beautiful, such a lovely walk around with bars, cafes and shops. We enjoyed watching the boats in the locks. I haven't visited for many years, so it was great to see what has been achieved. Love the Marina area, so good to see the regeneration of the area as a whole A great destination for an overnight stay, or longer to tour the area. Nice walks from the marina out to Battery Rocks Lighthouse, there is an open air lido, lake, nature reserve, good views across to Wales, what is not to like. Good choice of eateries and bars also. So very pleasantly surprised and it is great to see the area looks to be thriving, and lots of well planned housing in place too.Guest review bySands1United Kingdom

Maxine and family were great hosts made us feel very welcome and relaxed and so kind. The area is extremely well placed in portishead with access to good shops and amenities a very short walk from the door. Fantastic value for money and would definitely stay again. The extra touches made our stay even better. Welcomed with basic groceries, bread, milk, tea, coffee, juice. Complimentary toiletries were a nice touch. Great to have complimentary laundry products for the washing machine and dryer. Everything has been thought through carefully and we definitely recommend staying here. We have tried lots of places over the years and this was our favourite. The apartment was really clean, especially the floor, which I really appreciated. We weren't in there much but the kitchen had everything you would need and the bathroom was great, nice powerful, hot shower.
