What a wonderful cozy and stylish bed and breakfast! And very kind hosts, especially Mairi. We booked also a dinner with them, which was delicious and totally worth it. Also a very good idea after a day of exploring. The welcoming wee dram in the corridor was such a nice touch. And the overall design and love of the house is impressive. We would gladly stay here again.

Skye is beautiful but expensive. Lodging is hard to find, expensive. Restaurants are crowded. The weather is..the weather. We hit lots of rain. People told us unusually bad for September. But so much to see there.

It's a little hard to find the larger parking lot that has a 3 hour limit, the 2 up in the center of town are limited to 2 hours and no return within 1 hour. It's easy to see all the shops in an afternoon. Lots of places to eat, Dulse and Brose was very good but you must make a reservation.

Portree is beautiful but it appears to be an old town that struggling to keep up with increased tourism to Skye. Most of the food establishments closed earlier than advertised and people were looking for a place to eat constantly. Many places were not open at all when we visited during the day.

Portree is a quaint little village with shops and restaurants catering to the tourist crowd. There were nice places that were not on google maps, so finding them was a nice surprise. Many shops close at 5 or 6pm so being that we were on a Rabbies tour, we didn't get to go inside them. It was easy to walk around with some gentle hills to navigate, but all very doable. There were nice bars and restaurants to visit. We stayed at the Royal Hotel right near the harbor which had great views, good staff and a good breakfast included. Restaurants book up early so make reservations when you can. Many of their websites were uncooperative with this, so calling works best. Many just take walk ins with the popular ones having lines early on, starting at 6pm. Walking around at night feels safe, but only a few businesses remain open including a convenient food coop. Even ice cream places close early which was a surprise. We ate at the Antlers Bar and Grill (part of the Portree Hotel) and had good food and drinks at reasonable prices. We also ate at "1820 Limited" in an old church which had a simple menu, but very tasty and good prices, more casual and family friendly. Our first night we had drinks at the Caberfeidh Bar & Restaurant, as the regular dining area was full. We had a delightful bartender who entertained us while we enjoyed creative cocktails.

Portree is a quaint little town, worth to be seen. Just make sure you have evening meals reservations to skip long queues, hard to avoid on Sundays, when many restaurants are closed and most others only take walkins. But having a drink while you wait is a nice workaround.

It is located in the bay with spectacular views of Portree and the loch. The hotel itself is wonderful. Great amenities, comfortable beds, wonderful staff members, especially Faye and the barman, white name I didn't get. The restaurant was lovely, and the breakfast more than ample. I can certainly recommend it Cuillin Hills.

    * Hotels in Portree are apparently booked even in the middle of October, so you don't have many choices. I picked this hotel because it offered a larger room than other hotels in the area. * Lady at reception was somewhat helpful.
