    We weren't there long enough to really get to know the...

    We weren't there long enough to really get to know the village (town?) but it looked as if there were some interesting walks for the dogs, an interesting river,birdwatching oportunities etc, and quite a few pubs for a place that size! Always a good shout. It also lacked a really busy main road cutting through (at least, from where we were staying) so not much traffic noise and easy to get about without getting knocked down!

    The flower baskets and bunting were beautiful (a council worker was watering even on a weekend) and the park was stunning. The Cathedral was incredible and a wonderful Sunday service. Shops looked interesting and plenty of variety however didn’t have time to do. Everywhere appeared very clean

    Ripon centre is small enough to walk around, has a beautiful cathedral where staff make you welcome, one or two small museums (policing/court), individual shops, bus station and a number of car parks. Don’t forget to buy something from the bakeries!

    Small cathedral city with quite a lot going on.

    Small cathedral city with quite a lot going on. It's also a good place to stay if you wish to travel around the picturesque villages of Boroughbridge, Sorley, Roecliffe, Kirby Malzeard or just aorund the dales themselves. Stunning scenery.

    The cathedral was very interesting and if you get the chance to take communion there you are made most welcome. Good choice of eating places, main meals or just coffee/tea and cakes. Car parking is cheap, £2.60 for all day, excellent value, stops you clock watching whilst meandering around.

    I was staying for business so didn't have much time to...

    I was staying for business so didn't have much time to explore, however it was a lovely stay. I like the food and the food choices. The staff were very helpful and when I needed assistance with something in the room they were very quick to assist me. The location was perfect for my needs and the property was lovely with lots of character.

    The Unicorn Hotel Ripon has one of the best locations we've ever encountered, right in the middle of the city the rooms are really bright and clean, there is no parking at the hotel but they direct you to a Sainsburys car park where you can park overnight for £2.50 good value it's a Weatherspoons hotel so it does what it says on the tin very good food and drinks. We had a lovely room at the front of the hotel and there was a bit of noise coming from the road outside but we will be returning a very good hotel

    Very friendly hosts ,good breakfasts and a well appointed room with a reasonable amount of space which made for a comfortable week's stay. Kirkby Malzeard is a quiet village set in farmland and not far from Ripon and Masham with various eating out options including local village pubs. The Yorkshire Dales are within easy reach.

    A lovely stay to kick off the school holidays. The cottage is spacious and has everything you need to make it a home away from home. Feels very secluded but is only a 20 min walk or 5 min drive into Ripon. The garden is so peaceful and we spent a lot of time relaxing and nature spotting out there. Would definitely stay again.

    Everything! The hotel was beautifully decorated and very comfortable with beautiful gardens and with only a 5 minute walk to town was a perfect location for a visit to Ripon and Fountains Abbey.
