A pretty market town that has great frequent cheap bus links into Cambridge. A lovely river with history pretty boat rides available. Golden Lion hotel and Amore Italian restaurant excellent food. Like many towns now quite a few empty shops and some restaurants not open all week

We chose an 11 mile circular walk around St. Ives, along the Ouse river and valley(s). The walk was great, stopping half way at the excellent Cock in Hemmingford Grey. St. Ives itself has plenty of history and St. Ives Bridge with the integrated Chapel is one of four of its kind in the country and the statue of Oliver Cromwell is prominent. There were plenty of cafes and pubs and a small number of interesting restaurants to try for longer stays.

St. Ives is a very clean historic town with lots of small shops on the main streets and in Mews developments nearby. The worst thing about the visit was all the graffiti along side the guided bus way to Cambridge.

St Ives is a lovely quiet calm town.

St Ives is a lovely quiet calm town. It has some great shops and a large market on a Monday morning. There is a Antique Market too which has some fantastic things to buy. Lots of bars and restaurants along the river too. A fantastic Sunday roast in The Golden Lion hotel..... had to be done

The town is very picturesque, nice walks down by the river.

The town is very picturesque, nice walks down by the river. There is a cycle path that runs all along the busway, from St Ives to Cambridge. This is flat, completely traffic-free and about 15 miles each way.

We could have stayed in the local hotel a few streets away, after all that was where the wedding reception was, but being a couple of streets away we were not kept up with the noise of the party. It was nice to walk back and chat and felt like we had got home to crash out in a nice bed. It is best to lock your doors in this place as we walked in the wrong room (I don’t think they were happy, but it made us laugh).
