My partner and I had such a lovely week at the Coach House. What a fantastic holiday thank you Rick and Dee! Lots of info for getting there and into the property made it nice and easy after our weary night time arrival. We were so surprised and delighted to find eggs, fresh bread, milk for hot drink supplies for our breakfast in the morning. Very thoughtful touch, and let us eat and rest easy until we went to the shops later. We were so pleased to also find a bottle of prosecco for our evenings in the glorious hot tub, which really topped the hospitality! Everything was there that we needed, as well as towels and bathrobes for the hot tub, again very thoughtful for the chilly February evenings! Special note to the kitchen heater and upstairs heaters for making it so warm and cosy! Decoration and garden lights were beautiful! The info pack was incredibly handy and full of useful insights and recommendations and has been used like a Bible throughout our stay. Thank you for inviting us to local activities like the craft fair down the lane and your fantastic acoustic open mic night. It was great to hear Rick and his band and the local talent (despite the torrential weather). That being said, we had a couple of days of sun, despite the chilly wind, and made the most of it by going to Burnham-on-sea, Glastonbury Tor (which we almost got swept away on top). The other days we went to Cheddar Gorge, Wells cathedral and Bishop's palace, and on the rest of the days relaxing and taking in the surroundings with local walks in between the raindrops. We booked this off-the-cuff with less than a week to the stay, and we were so thrilled by this little gem. Photos don't really do it justice! We have loved our time here and didn't realise there was so much to do! We feel so rested and rejuvenated (with big thanks to the hot tub) and we will be looking forward to rebooking here in the future.

We loved our 2 night stay here, during a trip to UK from Australia. Steve and his staff were very friendly and obliging. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. We had both evening meals in the pub and the food was delicious and great value for money. The pub was cosy and friendly. Steve sat in the bar chatting to us one of the nights- a great friendly guy! Our room was an outside one, which suited us. Decent size, very clean and tidy. Heating great during the cold weather. Outside location is beautiful. Lake at the back of the property was gorgeous and nice to walk around. Very picturesque. It had snowed the day we arrived, so looked even more beautiful. The lake completely froze over. Our 14 year old son loved skimming pieces of ice across the surface of the lake. Big novelty for him, coming from Australia. The breakfast included each day was great. A few hot options to choose from also the usual toast, cereals, yoghurts, tea/coffee etc. Steve the owner/Chef would ask us what we wanted and was very open to mixing up the menu if we preferred something different to what was offered .The yolk colour of the local eggs were amazing!! Steve said they only use regular local produce. During our stay, Steve and his staff allowed us to use their commercial washing machine and drier for our clothes. This was completely complimentary and included all washing liquid. One morning we had to be out early.Steve’s laundry staff allowed us to put a load of washing on and said they’d “ take care of the rest”. When we returned for the day, our clothes had been washed and dried and placed back on our bed in the room. Amazing service! On our last day, Steve allowed us a late check out at 3pm with no extra charge. This is not a usual service you normally get! Plenty of room for parking.

Pretty little town with history dating back to the middle ages . There is a pretty market square with a Buttercross which was built in the 1600s. The townhall houses local art work by local artists . There are plenty of cafes with outdoor seating , and independent shops selling local crafts along with a supermarket ,excellent bakery and fish and chip shop .

Somerton is a lovely little picturesque village with quaint little shops, art galleries, an antique shop and lovely pubs. It was also the old capital of Wessex. We ate at The Unicorn and The Globe where the food and service was excellent - check out the reviews on Tripadvisor! There is a bus service that can take you to neighbouring towns, if you don't have your own transport. We liked Somerton because there was barely any traffic travelling through and the stone buildings are lovely.

I only visited Somerton once and would like to go back. It was a quiet town and I easily found on-street parking. I had some delicious ice cream from the market bakery and sat at an outdoor table looking at the lovely historic buildings. The other customers there at the same time were all cyclists touring the area.
