Southport is a lovely place to visit or even live, as I once did many years ago. However, it unfortunately now has a myriad of empty properties and even shops on what was once THE place LORD Street ; so called homeless people , all drinking and sleeping in shop doorways,

I can't tell you much as I was using Southport as a base to visit Nature Reserves in the area. The holiday season was over but it was still quite busy. There area has a diverse selection of Pubs, Restaurants, Cafe's, Shops etc., to cater for all tastes and budgets. "Lord Street is the main shopping street of Southport, in Merseyside. It is 1 mile (1.6 km) long, with a roundabout marking each end of the street. There are many water features, gardens and architectural buildings along the entire street, with a mix of residential, commercial and public buildings. It was laid out in the early 19th century". Visited from 2010 to 2019 and had wonderful holidays.

Visited from 2010 to 2019 and had wonderful holidays. Sadly Southport is looking tired. Lord Street used to be lovely but it's now mainly charity shops or empty shops. Homeless sleeping in doorways. The promenade and gardens are lovely. Excellent play area for kids. The pier has been closed for a while and when we were there we heard there had been a fire the day before. It's not particularly dog friendly. Windmill pub does good pub food. There are two retail parks with the usual shops but that takes you away from the main area of Lord Street. So disappointing won't be back.

Southport has some of the most fantastic Victorian buildings of anywhere I've been in England. Anyone interested in architecture, it's a must. As with all these places some parts are a bit tired, but you can imagine what it once would have been. There's some nice Bars up the top end of Lord Street, which is the main broad Avenue, with an exceptional Korean restaurant, The Korean Kitchen - absolutely fantastic. I had a great few days in Southport and the surrounding coast is fantastic with abundant sand dunes and pine forest.

Southport is a lovely place to visit . We really enjoyed our stroll along Lord street and it was a nice atmosphere with lots of cafes, bars , and people enjoying food and drinks outside, Large selection of places to eat Chinese , Indian , mexican good old fish and chips , and we found a beautiful place that did the most amazing afternoon tea. We found Southport to be very friendly and chilled place to stay . We will definitely visit again 😄

Looking really run down. Not a lot of Tourists. A lot of things are closed. Splash Swimming pool needs to be booked in advance and its the only attraction really. Such a shame it doesn't seem the county council is looking after the place.

With my daughter in hospital I had to stay in Southport and the Lord Street Hotel could not have been more accommodating. They helped me set the room up to work from and enabled my stay in the same room when I had to keep extending. The room was perfect, great bed, excellent shower with all the little extra touches. The location is close to everything as well.
