Staithes is a lovely quiet old fashioned fishing village, with some steep hills to walk up and down. The views from the top over looking the bays are breath taking. Cars are nt allowed to stay within the village other then a some time to unload and load so parking at the top of the hill became quiet expensive. On a good note the Cob and Lobster became our second home from home, the sea food dishes were divine. We spent many a night talking the the locals. We also visited the George Hotel and the Captain Cook Inn which I can highly recommend. Would I go back to Staithes yes

Staithes is well worth the visit - whether you are a weary traveller, a Captain Cook history buff, or a keen Cleveland Way walker you will enjoy this village. The harbour is interesting. I like the Royal George Hotel more than the other hotels in the village. Nearby towns are Whitby and Saltburn-by-the-Sea - both have heaps to offer.

    Love Staithes.

Love Staithes. Cute little village, couple of nice pubs, shops and a beach. Perfect for my young family having a short break. Not easy to get around if you have accessibility issues though, be prepared for the steep hill to get down into the village. Been visiting for a few years now and will continue to do so 😊

    Perfect (but don't tell anyone).

Perfect (but don't tell anyone). Staithes is a hidden treasure, two good pubs as well as cafés serving food. Crab fishing at high tide and rock pools at low tide. Car parking £8 per day at the top of hill, steep walk down into the village. Not suitable for less mobile persons although it is possible to drive down and drop off but no parking.

Staithes itself is very nice it although it was the Harbour Cottage we stayed that in that spoilt the stay, having to leave a day early because of the awful damp smell in the cottage. Cod and Lobster nice place to eat, food was lovely, also The Royal George food was delicious. No parking down High Street so had to park at top in car park, although allowed to drive down the street to drop luggage off, then drive back to car park.

Love Staithes. A real break from reality!

Love Staithes. A real break from reality! Wavelet Cottage an absolute find. Two great pubs serving fabulous food. There’s maybe room for another goody place tho. If you want to properly relax this is the place to do it.

I enjoyed the fact that this is a small hotel (with just three double rooms) and is located in the old port of Staithes. It seems very thoughtfully managed. Downstairs is a busy dining and bar area and the kitchen and breakfast room are on the first floor. This means that the rooms for guests are on the top floor away from any noise and busyness. It was very clean and tidy, and my room was small, snug and very comfortable. I had a very tasty breakfast: a generous serving of scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. The staff were very helpful.

I have given 7 stars only because I liked this area. After all, it was quiet most of the time. This house was very well placed within a quick walk to the small coop shop and a stunning little seaside walking place. Small driving distance to Whitby town centre and plenty of other attractions in North Yorkshire

One of the best cottages we have stayed in. We have been visiting Staithes for over 30years. This was a lovely cottage in a perfect location. The fireworks at new year in the harbour, we're a great way to see the new year in
