We came here in connection with my wife's work.
We came here in connection with my wife's work. There is no other reason to visit. Its a boring, unmemorable little town, made somewhat pleasant by its leafy character and the proximity of the countryside. There is more to do in neighbouring Newbury, but it too is flawed by poor town planning, busy roads and a poor quality cultural hub. The only place I really liked was Shaw House, which is used mainly as a conference centre, so that people interested in its history have to make sure its open before visiting.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Thatcham is not exactly a 'destination'!
Thatcham is not exactly a 'destination'! It is a working town with good rail links and very handy for the A4. My friend & I were fishing the River Kennet very close by which made this town convenient. There are a number of pubs in town but unfortunately Covid issues meant none seemed to be serving evening meals. This is our 2nd stay here - we sometimes attend events in Thatcham and The Swan is ideal for an overnight stay. The breakfast was excellent. Our main meal was very good.
