Very authentic atmosphere, feels like living in the past century :) would definitely recommend to stay here while you go hiking in Dartmoor! Great host and great food at the pub downstairs!

A wonderful hotel in a beautiful location. Extremely peaceful setting in the middle of delightful countryside within landscaped gardens. Real tranquility with the calming sound of an exquisite river to lend even more character to the setting. Extremely friendly and personal service, from the front door being opened for us when we arrived, to the car being brought to the door and the luggage placed in as we left. Not to mention the perfectly sized four year old and teenager bathrobes and slippers waiting in our room for our children on our arrival, along with chocolates, lemonade, port (not for our children;) and other refreshments. The room was also excellent. The modern and historical blended with style and character. Large and comfortable, with views over the gardens and the sound of the river outside. And then the breakfast. So relaxing and sophisticated, in a lovely dining room, with excellent service and the best (and most impressive) croissants and Eggs Royale I have ever tasted. Simply a first class and enjoyable experience. Would have wanted to stay longer. Would definitely recommend.

Breakfast was very good, eggs, toast and smoked kippers with strong hot coffee. The history of Oxenham Arms is amazing. So many fascinating figures have stayed here. One of our hosts, John, was full of facts and anecdotes, obviously very proud of the place! We took his advice on a hike nearby and it was one of the highlights of our UK trip.

Excellent Staff. Attention to detail and service from the Heart. All Hotel Team Members very polite and courteous and very considerate. Grounds and Garden beautiful. Stunning plants and trees. We enjoyed our time there so much. Nicola and her husband were very welcoming, it all felt more like visiting friends than staying in anonymous accommodation. The room amenities are sensational, there are bathrobes, slippers, shampoo, shower gel, cream etc all available, as well as a super lovely set of snacks and teas. We especially liked the heat lamp in the shower. For breakfast you should bring some time, because Nicola prepares it fresh every morning (according to the choice you made the night before) and together with her husband takes the time to talk with the guests. The location is a very good base for touring Dartmoor. This was the best place to stay on our travels around England and if we ever find ourselves in the area again, we will definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful overnight stay in the annex at Cherryford House. We had a warm welcome and the annex had everything we needed for our one night stop over and was beautifully furnished. Walks onto the moors directly from the doorstep and wonderful pubs, cafes and shops in Chagford, a 12 minute drive away!

    This is a really beautiful area which is ideal for walking. It's very rural and miles from any main roads, so great if you like peace and quiet, but care must be taken when driving around the narrow lanes.
