    redwings morcott is a budget solution 2 x villages east of the bigger uppingham town but the location is excellent for visiting rutland water and the lovely stamford and burghley house...theres a big choice of good village pubs for eating out at v short distance....

    The location of our accommodation meant we were able to visit several places in Rutland - as well as just on the outskirts - including Stamford, Uppingham, Oakham (and Melton Mowbray on our return home!) Uppingham itself is a small market type town with some interesting independent shops and pubs. Worth a visit for a little mooch around but you don't need too long to walk around the centre/main streets.

    Rutland has been aptly described as 'the Cotswolds without...

    Rutland has been aptly described as 'the Cotswolds without the crowds'. The scenery is lovely and villages picturesque. The roads are relatively quiet and we had no difficulty parking in the summer holidays. We spent a pleasant afternoon at Rutland water, which even has it's own beach, with lifeguards.

    Centrally placed for National Trust, English Heritage and...

    Centrally placed for National Trust, English Heritage and Historic Houses properties, with equally attractive towns and villages nearby. The Lake Isle restaurant and Don Paddys Bistro are both excellent places to eat, and we would happily eat there again on our next visit.

    I loved how kind and helpful the staff were ! Excellent location for the dog show A great Indian restaurant next door A real bath and lovely towels Lots of space It was also very quiet Open 24hours so great on the night we arrived fairly late It’s not a smart 5* hotel but value for money and had everything we needed I would happily return

    Uppingham is a really pretty town with a nice range of shops...

    Uppingham is a really pretty town with a nice range of shops and restaurants. HIghly recommend staying at The Crown pub and visiting the world-famous Goldmark Art Gallery. The art and ceramics are fantastic and the staff are very welcoming. In fact everyone we met in Uppingham was really friendly! If you want to go for a walk / bird watching- Rutland Water is nearby. Oakham is also nice to visit - especially the museum.

    Very fast & friendly check-in, we had a lovely large room with a comfy bed. It was nice to make use of the nice bath. Large parking area for vehicles although there would be no problem leaving it on the road.We had already eaten so we didn't use the restaurant. Lovely quiet quaint village.not far from Uppingham & definitely value for money. We got a great deal.

    Excellent value for money in a very nice hotel with lovely clean and spacious rooms. Having booked a room through booking.com, we needed an extra room at the last minute as we decided to take our granddaughters. I rang and the hotel found me another room just 3 doors down and charged us the equivalent booking.com rate as well. Very happy with our stay.

    We had a fabulous couple of nights at The Hollies. Debbie was a wonderful host and made us feel really welcome. The property is in a great location near the centre of Uppingham. Our room was very comfortable and Debbie's breakfasts were delicious. We would be more than happy to stay again when we are in the area.
