The exceptionally helpful and professional staff, together with the welcoming and relaxing atmosphere of the hotel, guaranteed a most enjoyable stay. Our room was extremely comfortable and most attractive with an en-suite bathroom in which everything functioned perfectly. Breakfast at the hotel was one of the high points of the day and for the staff, nothing was too much trouble: the dishes served from the extensive menu were all quite delicious. The Royal truly is a most remarkable hotel.

The property was very accommodating, comfortable and suited our needs perfectly. We were made to feel very welcome by the proprietor Brian who helped us with our bikes and gave us lots of useful information. It was a very inviting and friendly atmosphere. After a long days cycling he took us both a glass of wine up to then terrace where it was very nice to sit and relax in the sunshine. (His nice Savingnon Blanc was also much cheaper than the surrounding bars) . His home grown strawberries were plentiful and very tasty too. A perfect stay.

Property was a great period property with amazing views over the town and Ventnor bay. At dusk bats flew around the garden and the sounds of the sea and sea birds have a really relaxing holiday feel. Beds were comfortable, all facilities we needed and plenty of space for big family group. Ample parking and close to local shops for picking up essentials. Great base for exploring the island.

    During my recent stay, I was treated unfairly and...

    During my recent stay, I was treated unfairly and experienced considerable distress due to the unprofessional conduct of the property manager, Mr. Steve. He has withheld my deposit by making false damage claims that are completely unfounded. Upon further investigation, I discovered that this appears to be a recurring issue, as several past guests have reported similar experiences.

    We found the Spyglass Inn was a great place to eat, they didn’t take bookings though so it was turn up and grab a table. On Saturday night it was very crowded! The food was good & there was lots of it. We walked down to Steephill cove and had coffee in the Beach Shack, pretty beach I’m sure but we were there at high tide. The Botanic Garden was pretty with lots of paths to explore. We got in on the Gardeners 2-4-1 card which saved us £13.50, parking is included with the entrance fee, but don’t forget to type your number into their system. It had a lovely shop and cafe. The day we were there the chef was making Leek & potato soup with their home grown leeks. Most days their soup are vegan friendly.

    Ventnor is a lovely village, with plenty of amenities.

    Ventnor is a lovely village, with plenty of amenities. Although a little hilly, it is an excellent base for walkers with coastal paths and public foot paths in all directions. There are also good public transport connections to get around the island with ease. There are plenty of options for food, we would highly recommend the excellent Two Cooks and London House for brunch/lunch, and The Met or The Spyglass for dinner. Just down the road is The Buddle Inn that does amazing Sunday lunches with live entertainment.

    Quiet and scenic bay.

    Quiet and scenic bay. Excellent fish and chips at Golden Sands. The Spyglass pub looks over the bay and does lovely food. Toni's does great toasties and boozey hot chocolates. Really lovely vibe and lovely to see so many dog walkers. Ventnor Boat Charters do a good boat trip along the bay and they're really friendly. It has real charm and a good place to stroll along and forget your worries.

    Lots of places to eat and drink and swim.

    Lots of places to eat and drink and swim. Sadly there are more empty shops and empty buildings. the road closures due to land slip made aceess by car and on foot difficult ate at the Sea pot (very good sea food platter), The Spyglass (shared at pint of prawns at lunchtime) Besty and Spinkys (Fish and chips lovely)

    A lovely victorian town with nice shops and very friendly staff -as with all places currently there are signs of the economic downturn , but overall it is well looked after * and has all the main amenities available . *The town council needs to URGENTLY revamp the toilets on the esplanade - disgusting state - needs investment urgently with the holiday season now upon us (july 1st ) . Lots of places to eat , varied tastes and some good antique / gift shops . If self catering there is a good Coop and Tesco Express in the town , lovely bakery and fresh vegetable stores . Lovely clock and watch shop at the top of the town , parking opposite the main shops . Great walks from the town , over the downs , costal paths and a good bus service .

    Very close to the beach, supermarket close by and easy to park in the surrounding streets as well as a long stay car park 60 seconds' walk from the property. Quiet area. The property was very tastefully decorated and everything that we could possible need was already there. Very comfortable beds, Ventnor was excellent for access to the whole island and there were lots of hiking trails nearby, looking forward to exploring them next time! Would visit again and would recommend.

    Lovely small hotel ten minutes walk from Ventnor and seafront. Friendly welcoming staff. Beautiful clean and spacious room with sea view and overlooking lovely gardens. Large comfortable bed. Good quality toiletries in bathroom. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits replenished daily. Fridge in room with fresh milk and bottled water. Plentiful breakfast, including fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, full English breakfast available within price.

    Beautiful location in front of the sea in what is possibly the nicest (and quietest) village in the Isle of Wight, just s few minutes walk from the beach. The restaurant/bar has an exceptional view over the bay. Excellent breakfast
