West Mersea is a charming seaside community with lots of interest in the harbour area. There was a children’s event in full swing when we arrived and the sense of family community was very strong. Later in our stay we went crabbing on the pontoon with the grandchildren. Great fun! Everybody was friendly and welcoming. I have visited Mersea Island many times over the years, I absolutely love West Mersea and feel at home as soon as I arrive there. On this most recent stay we spent the Saturday evening at The White Hart in High Street where we had a lovely meal and drinks. It was a great place to visit, we had two very good meals on the island: Titash (Indian restaurant) and Seafood at Dawn which had great fresh local fish, including Mersea (Colchester oysters). We visited the church in the village, the beach and Cudmore Grove County Park which had many options for different length walks, It was also very easy journey to Colchester, where there is lots to do around there.Guest review bySharon
