We absolutely loved everything about this hotel. The staff were professional and friendly, the room was exceptional as were the complimentary drink and snacks and the food in the a la carte restaurant was superb 👌 The manager was exceptional and responded immediately to a minor concern that we raised.

The most unusual place we have ever stayed in, in the best way possible. Absolutely perfect for the area and the Whitby vibe. Quirky doesn't even come close! The lovely staff and the perfect attention to detail, the fabulous breakfast in bedroom service, the views of the Abbey and bay. I could go on but you need to experience it for yourself to be able to get the awe of the place. I would say though open the desk if you are in the Lewis room, cheeky! The bed was the most comfortable bed we have ever stayed in! Like a cocoon. The big deep bathtub was glorious. Thank you so much for our last minute booking, we were blown away by the whole experience. If we come back to Whitby it will only happen if we can book with you.

Whitby is a fabulous, traditional English seaside town with lots of lovely views and places to visit. A great self restaurants and cafes with some excellent fish and chip shops. A perennial seaside favourite of ours over the years, always busy but not too commercialised. A great beach. Access to other resorts eg Saltburn, Staithes, Robin Hoods Bay, Scarborough is available by public transport and there is the opportunity to ride on the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway. Plenty of things to do for all ages. The open topped bus will take you up to the abbey ( and Abbey Brewery with its outside sitting area) if you don’t fancy climbing the 199 steps up there. Plenty of great fish restaurants, our favourite is Mr Chips on Church Street ( don’t be put off by the name, it’s excellent). The Angel Hotel ( a Wetherspoons) is always good value and provides good value accommodation. There are also Indian, Thai, Italian and Turkish restaurants to choose from. Choose your accommodation carefully if anyone in your party has walking difficulties as Whitby is quite hilly in places and there are lots of steps up (and down) to some properties and cobbled streets to negotiate.

Slippery cobblestones but handrails to hold on to.

Slippery cobblestones but handrails to hold on to. Suitable places to eat/drink coffee or tea. Whitby Abbey walled so that you have to pay to see the site. Absolute commercialism! Probably worth a one-day visit.

    Whitby is a beautiful place.

Whitby is a beautiful place. It's full of history from the Abbey to Dracula. It has lovely walks and places to eat. One of my favorites is The Magpie, they do amazing fish and chips. You can go on a boat ride. You can see the fishermen bringing in their catch. The beach is beautiful for all the family. You can easily walk around. If you feel fit you can walk up the 199 steps up to the Abbey. Just a fabulous place.

Finding a hotel with parking in Whitby is a challenge. Lobster Hall was a perfect solution. A driving on a Thursday we begged a place and left the car there for the duration. The walk down into town was easy peasy. Lobster Hall is an annex off Bagshot Hall which is a fabulous residence just 100 yds away. The room was nicely furnished and everything we needed. My only adverse comment would be the state of the old sash windows which were badly in need of refurbishment.

The Buck in is a wonderful little place. Right in the heart of Whitby over looking the harbour. The staff were lovely, the rooms were clean and comfortable. There was a few power cuts during our stay, this was no fault of the hotel and the staff couldn't apologise enough. A few reviews stated that the car park was a nightmare, but unless you are driving an artic lorry there really isn't an issue.

Lovely front view of the sea. Liked the communal downstairs areas, although old furniture in the quiet room, it was cozy. Liked the designated car parking space, we booked this in advance Liked the position of the hotel in Whitby; easy walking distance to everywhere. However lots of steps so not so good for people with limited mobility
