The area was mostly fine. In some areas the town was looking tired. Absence of any visible street cleaning. We must have passed an area where someone had let their dog foul the pavement at least eight times as we walked up and down to our guest house and back down towards the lake I know it’s individual dog owners where the responsibility lies but even so it’s a big tourist area So one would expect a bit more pride in the area Unfortunately we won’t be rushing back to visitGuest review byAnonymous - 8.0

Windermere is a vibrant town. It has a great choice of restaurants, cafes and bars offering a great range of food genres. It has a lot of independent shops with wonderful window displays and friendly, helpful teams. Scenery was breathtaking.
Scenery was breathtaking. Fabulous restaurants, coffee shops and boutique shops. We had fantastic food at the Thai restaurant King of Siam. Had a trip around the lake and drove to Cockermouth, Keswick and Scafell Pike.Guest review byAnonymous - 10
Windermere town centre is small but has plenty of cafes and...
Windermere town centre is small but has plenty of cafes and restaurants to meet all food lovers types. There are a good selection of shops for gifts etc. and all are within a few hundred yards and not too far from the railway station or buses to travel to other parts of the lakes. It is also a 10 to 15 minute walk to Bowness (downhill) which is also the place to hop on to the lake boats or alternative dining or shopping and the Beatrix Potter experience. We had our honeymoon in Windermere many years ago, so revisiting places. Windermere is a beautiful location with plenty to do for all the family. Easy to get around with buses to the Lakes if no car. The area is stunningly beautiful and the people are so friendly and chatty. It was a real pleasure to be there. I'd recommend a day tour just so you see everything. Most of all I loved the lobby and breakfast areas, where they serve a good quality, made to order breakfast. Swimming pool was clean but not warm enough, sauna was ok.
