A pleasant city, everyone we met was friendly and helpful, small enough to be able to walk to all the amenities we needed. Loved the promenade (including the dance festival that was happening while we were there). Found an excellent bar (Kerouac) just round the corner, and minimarket opposite. The city is very charming, but unfortunately quite dirty. I wouldn’t recommend wearing white shoes, as they’ll quickly be covered in dust. It seems the municipality doesn’t put much effort into maintaining the cleanliness of the city. However, the people of Alexandroupoli are incredibly kind and welcoming. Some of the older residents may come across as a bit abrupt, but this is likely due to the language barrier rather than any ill intent.
