A beautifully restored boutique property, with a luxury feel. Excellent interiors with top notch fixtures. The kitchen was well equipped. We reached later in the evening, but check in was super easy with the instructions given. A lovely breakfast with decent vegan/ vegetarian options. Both the owner and the caretaker Donna were very helpful :)

Location was nice and you can have a nice walk to Archanes village with several shops and restaurants. Easy to park and to reach provided that you follow the host guidelines and go through Kaligari. Breakfast was truly delicious.

We stayed there for 4 days. Upon arrival we were absolutely happy with the beauty of this hotel. The decor is absolutely breathtaking. Niko, at the reception made our stay very special. We will never forget your hospitality xxx Breakfast was the best part of our stay I would say. Food was very good and fresh. The coffee was also very lovely. Hotel situated walking distance from the village Great people and authentic crete food.

What a gem! We stayed at Eliathos for 10 days, and it was the perfect base for us to explore the local surroundings and the charming town of Archanes, as well as easily accessible day trips to Heraklion, Knossos, Chania, Diktaion Cave and Agia Pelagia. The stunning surroundings and peaceful atmosphere of this residence provided a lovely place for us to spend days by the pool in between the longer day trips. The facilities were excellent, with each residence fully equipped with everything we needed. The staff were extremely helpful (especially Nikos, who gave us lots of helpful tips and suggestions) and made it feel like a home from home. Would highly recommend Eliathos for short or long stays in Crete.

    Archanes is located right in the middle of nowhere.

    Archanes is located right in the middle of nowhere. Okay, it's quite close to Heraklion and the Palace of Knossos. But if you want to go to the beaches, you have a choice between terribly crowded beaches around Heraklion, and God forbid, Malia... probably the most disgustingly overcrowded beach we've ever seen, or the beaches on the south of the island, which are accessible through winding mountain roads that can be quite challenging to navigate with a weak engine, like the Peugeot 108 we rented. The best option is the beaches to the west of Matala, which are a bit over an hour away via Road 97 through Heraklion, leading to Kommos Beach just west of Matala. Matala, although charming, is terribly crowded, while Kommos offers a wide expanse of pebbles with an incredible stereo effect: the sound of waves and the "singing" of cicadas. So you can spend a day at Kommos Beach, having quite a spacious area around you and only the sounds of nature, and in the evening, you can go to Matala for dinner, enjoying a charming but not as spectacular as the Polish Baltic Sea sunsets.

    Archanes is a beautiful village not far from Iraklion.

    Archanes is a beautiful village not far from Iraklion. It has great restaurants, beautiful scenery a well curated archaeological museum and many nearby attractions including Knossos. We stay here each time we come to Crete as it is a really relaxed Cretan village. It is accessible by car and bus from Iraklion. Narrow laneways and hilly terrain make it a walker’s dream location.

    Great village with nice outdoor eating options, some great character small bars/restaurants with live traditional crete/greek music and nice place to spend a few days with vineyards nearby and close to Knossos Palace and a load of other day trip options for hiking or beaches

    Such a lovely property - characterful, clean and comfortable. Wished we had been there in the summer so we could have enjoyed the pool. Staff very helpful. Excellent breakfast. Great restaurants in the village. We ate i Agora, which we loved. Fantastic food, excellent wine (made by the owners) and extremely good value for money. Can't recommend highly enough.

    Beautiful room ! Stayed in the sympathetically restored house. Fantastic standard, clean, fresh, tastefully furnished in a simple but artful Cretan style. (Restoration finished Sep 2023) Archanes is such a pretty old village, retaining much of its historic charm. Carpe Diem is an excellent choice to use as a base for visiting Knossos and other areas of Iraklion . We also explored beaches to the north, some with Tavernas and beach bars offering free sun beds to customers. We hope to return soon 👍

    A lovely, split-level converted traditional building with lots of space and a sweet interior garden/patio area. Archanes is a great village with a lively square full of locals (nearly all men!) And the centre is an easy walk down the hill. There is a good choice of great value bars and restaurants - cheaper than the more touristsy towns. A good place to stay while visiting Knossos and Heraklion, without the crowds.

    The property was very well located, very clean and well equiped. The traditional house was.quiet and charming with it’s own courtyard and located near to Archanes central square where we ate each night in the open air. Plenty of good restaurants to choose from. Our host was easy to contact and very helpful. A great base from which to explore Crete.
