Wonderful small new hotel right on the edge between Psyrri and Monistiraki. Walk out the door to the right and you’re in Monistiraki, walk to the left and suddenly you’re in Psyrri. Rooms are modern and comfortable. I had a little balcony where I could sit out overlooking the street. Breakfast was at a cafe a few doors down, and was also very good.

The location is great: very close to good restaurants, the national art museum, the army museum, the Byzantine museum and two metro stops. Breakfast was very nice: fresh made pies every morning, a variety of cold cuts and hot dishes. The hotel is rather new, the rooms are wonderful and have everything you need. But the biggest asset of the hotel is the very motivated, hospitable and friendly staff!! They made us feel at home from day 1 and helped wherever they could to make our stay so enjoyable! One of us hurt her knee badly on the way to Athens and after one call to the hotel, they rented a wheelchair which was waiting for us when we arrived. Thank you again!

Everything was great! The location was perfect, the staff were friendly and very welcoming. The room was small but had plenty of storage space and included all necessary equipment. I even reserved a gift 🙂 The breakfast was very tasty. The room was cleaned every day. We enjoyed our stay and we will definitely return

A Dynamic City with 3400 Years of History

With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history whilst embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you will find tavernas serving tantalising souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.

A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds downtown.

Changing the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The up-market districts of Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.

Athens contains some of the finest museums in the world such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. From Athens International Airport to the Port of Piraeus, this is a city bustling with the old and new. On Booking.com you can find everything from modern hotels to a room in a classical building.

Loved the food, loved the food and loved the food.

Loved the food, loved the food and loved the food. So much to see and the ancient ruins are amazing. Had an amazing dinner atop Mount Lycabettus. There are 3 eateries and we opted for a sit down dinner at the spectacular Orizontes restaurant. The food is amazing and you wont believe the view! One of the best in all of Athens. Another hidden gem is Avli. It's kinda hidden but get there early and there is a long line that forms and its amazing and one of the best Greek salads. And speaking of Greek salads, have a visit to Ruins in the Kolonaki area, another best Greek salad like no other. If you want an experience there ask to be seated in the area served by Yaness, he's fantastic! Roof top bars abound but we really enjoyed 360 Cocktail bar in the Monastiraki, with a great view of the Acropolis. Loved the chill vibe music! The hostess was super nice, she reminded me of a Bond girl. She remembered us when we returned a week later and we got vip treatment. Loved this place!

We love Athens, this is our third visit.

We love Athens, this is our third visit. It is a paradox of history, charm and conflict, just like all of Greece. It is a city which screams about the struggle of the human species, full of defiance in defeat.

Apart from Ancient Athens including the Acropolis, the city...

Apart from Ancient Athens including the Acropolis, the city does not have much going for it. Three days was too much for us, so we took a trip to Delphi one day to get out. Athens is very run down and there was very visible prostitution and drug use in the areas where the hotels are (Omonia). A lot of the streets are dirty and graffiti is rife (and it isn't even attempting to be good graffiti or art). The smaller towns and villages in Greece are fantastic by comparison and the bus service is great if you want to get around.

Athens is a very cultural and historic place. Ancient meets modern everywhere you turn, with a surprise around every corner. Hidden gems are plentiful and are a welcome discovery. Never shy away from something unfamiliar, give it a try,it might well surprise you. The changing of the guard at Parliament Square is a must. On the hour every hour,24 hours a day. It is wonderful to watch and be in awe of the Evizone 🇬🇷

    An absolute delight!

An absolute delight! The people are friendly, the food is exceptional (Spinich pie for breakfast is am absolute must!) and the general vibe is chill and happy. It's very warm for my British sensitivities but that is easily overlooked with how charming and pleasant the place is in general. Getting around is super easy via Metro or taxi and almost everyone speaks very good English making tourism super convienient. Food, accomodation and most drinks are very cheap in comparasion to home and it's all too easy to fall in love with the place! If you are on the fence about going just do it, you will not regret it!

    1) The metro to the airport was chaotic - no separate line to the airport. Greek people who went to work on Monday morning and tourists who went to the airport with their luggage all jammed into line 3. One can imagine that trains were packed and sweaty. Upon arrival at the airport, there was only one escalator up to the airport terminal. Staff scanned each passenger's metro ticket in addition to the tapping out by the passengers, causing huge jams at the exit. 2) The Acropolis was always crowded, but it was worth to visit. But beware of the wind and the sand and dust blown up by the wind. 3) The entrance to the Ancient Agora has changed. Visitors were not informed on the site's webpage and only became aware where it was by accidentally coming across a notice hung on a fence near the site. I point out all the shortcomings and hope they could be improved by the Greek government to enhance visitor experience since Greece is a popular destination for many travellers.

The location of Phaedra is perfect, on the edge of the Plaka district, within easy walking distance of many of Athens' best attractions. 10minutes walk from Syntagma square where the metro and bus from the airport stops. The view from the rooftop is amazing, perfect for having your own sundowner there (note, there is no bar at the top so you have to take your own drinks/snacks). The staff were very friendly and helpful.
