It is a quiet area but well worth visiting. Be aware that it is remote, and if you stay here then everywhere else is a long drive away! Portas Atheros is a good beach and has decent Tavernas. The thing we loved most about Atheras was the peaceful, relaxing, sandy beach and picturesque bay with its turquoise clear waters and traditional fishing boats. Its gentle, shallow entry waters make it particularly perfect for families with young children, people with mobility problems and for launching kayaks and paddleboards. The beach is not ‘organised’ so visitors should remember to bring their own parasols and mattresses if needed as there are none to rent. The added bonus of Porto Atheras are the two excellent restaurants by the beach. The location is rural so a car is as advisable. I would wholeheartedly recommend Regina Studios for accommodation, just a few minutes by car from Porto Atheras Beach or about 10 minutes on foot.Guest review byFMC999United Kingdom
